Editor's Notes and Comments:

Album Description:
Epic, emotional and inventive describe the action drama 300 and also its score. Written and produced by Tyler Bates (Dawn of the Dead, Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects, and Slither), Music From The Motion Picture 300 boasts a sweeping palette, embracing a tonal foundation unfamiliar to studio films. Orchestral and choral, 300 features the haunting, exotic vocals of Azam Ali, featured in world music groups Niyaz and Vas.

Amazon.com:
Listening to this soundtrack at full blast one often feels as if the Spartan and Persian forces are coming right at you, then ferociously pummeling your eardrums--and this is meant as a compliment. Tyler Bates's score is basically a modern update of the battle classic to end all battle classics: Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. On the opening cue 'To Victory,' Bates throws in everything he's got: powerful choral singing, massive percusion (you can almost feel the weight of those Japanese taiko drums), and of course an otherworldly female voice. All these elements are then parceled out over the following tracks, taking turns to dominate the cues, and sometimes coming together again in majestic shows of force--the music can sound absolutely humongous at times ('Submission,' 'Come and Get Them,' 'A God King Bleeds'). The most interesting development is the use throughout of electronic treatment; even when the technique is applied subtly, it's very efficient in adding a spooky dimension to the album's very sonic texture. And while you'd think an electric guitar would feel incongruous in a movie set in 480 BC, it actually injects a screaming sense of urgency into a track such as 'The Hot Gates.' As for that aforementioned female voice, it belongs to Iranian-born, L.A.-based Azam Ali (of the duo Vas), who makes essential contributions on tracks like 'Cursed by Beauty' and 'Goodbye My Love.' --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Azam Ali & GREEN MEMORIES
I LOVE Azam Ali! Her voice creates a haunting feeling that expresses what is to come for sparta. Amazing! I recently found another soundtrack that features her voice...GREEN MEMORIES...it's ambient electronic sound sends my spirit on a journey through my mind. She must really care about the environment as well because this CD seems to represent our global crisis we face today. This makes her voice even more beautiful as she uses it to heal the world through music.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - not worth your money
i was expecting a lot but i guess my expectations are too high. i was bored very quickly and i love soundtracks i always buy them, this one you could not compare to braveheart at all. i had to buy 3 cd of braveheart because my very first and second were damaged by so much playing. this one is just on my shelf siting.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - This rocks!
I can only say that this is one of the better scores I've heard in a long time. The pounding, primal rhythms and powerful operatic vocals Tyler Bates has put together with the scream of more modern instruments like electric guitar perfectly evoke the ferocity of Spartans in battle. This score is even more powerful than the movie it was created for in my opinion. It is genius!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - PREPARE FOR GLORY
This is my favorite movie of 2007 and one of my top favorites of all time. If a movie is great, it almost always has a great score which is what helped it to make it great. This is just the case here. I am able to just hear the music and relive the movie. If you enjoyed this movie and you enjoy listening to epic musical scores, then this soundtrack is definitely for you.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - WOW!!
I saw the movie for the very first time the other night, and was blown away by everything. For me, the thing that made this movie was the music. Tyler Bates should be on every movie directors short list as a composer for their movies because what he did was turn a great war movie into an epic war movie simply because of the music he created for it. I went out and bought the CD the day after I saw the movie, it was that good. I urge you to do yourselves a favor and run out and buy this CD. You won't be disappointed.
