Wow. What to say about this book? I was expecting steam. Heck, just look at the cover, and you know there aren't going to be fade-to-black or closed-door sex scenes, and you can pretty much gather that said sex scenes won't be same-old, same-old either.
What you might not expect, particularly if, like me, you're new to this author, are realistic characters and emotional depth, but they're there.
Katie Long is a good girl with the soul of a bad girl. She's working in a casino in a small town, where everyone knows her, and she feels trapped. Her overriding goal in life is to save up enough money to escape to the city where she can finally be herself.
Meanwhile, she has her eye on the sexy new security guard at the casino: Joe Carson. In a fit of daring, she gives him a show on the security monitor, and starts an intense, exciting, D/s sexual relationship with him.
At least it starts out as just sex, until they both find themselves falling in love, and their emotional goals and their practical goals start to collide.
Bound does a lovely job of portraying Katie, and showing how a person can be sexually submissive without being weak or ineffectual outside the bedroom--or even inside it. It also does a lovely job of showing Katie's character change--the traditional but no less true plot of discovering what you really want.
The ending is very satisfying. No giving up of one's goals for a new sexual relationship, no inexplicable and convenient character changes. I was happy for Katie and the end, and confident that she'd be happy too.
I'll definitely be looking for more books by Sasha White.

This book was good. It wasn't great by any means though. It was hard to get into the flow of the book, she has choppy writing that doesn't flow well from chapter to chapter (or even scene to scene). It definitely had its hot scenes.. I've never read a book like this before, it was interesting, I would like to read another again.
Someone clearly didn't edit this book thoroughly and it's sad because all those mistakes made it hard to read the whole book.

Good girl Katie Long wants to change her image and get out of her small Canadian town and move to Vancouver. But before she can raise the cash to make her big move to the city she falls for the new security man at the casino where she works. Joe Carson sees beyond the good girl to the desires that simmer beneath and helps Katie to explore her darkest fantasies. He does so well, infact, that she doesn't know whether she wants to stay or go. This book focuses on relationship dynamics (with family, friends, and Katie's new lover) as well as the explicit erotic sex Heat publisher is known for. Mostly D/s but with mild bondage as well ... Joe's handcuffs aren't just for show.

This book had a few good scenes, but in general, it really didn't ring my bell. I was hoping for more character development and creativity in writing, but it just wasn't there. Not a bad book for a single read, but I will pass it on to someone more vanilla than I.

Good girl Katie is giving Joe the show of a lifetime and he is unable to tear his eyes away. When she meets him in the surveillance room, Joe knows that he has to have her; on his terms, in his bed, bound.
Katie and Joe explore their sexuality and deepest fantasies. There is just one problem. Katie can't imagine staying in the small town where she grew up. As soon as she gets enough money, she is leaving for the city and there is nothing anyone can say to make her change her mind, not even Joe.
BOUND by Sasha White pushed major buttons with me. While the intense sexual relationship between Joe and Katie left me breathless at times, I soon became enamored of both of them. I adored Katie for her eagerness, and Joe for his patience and fortitude. Ms. White's description of them was so realistic that I could see them in my mind.
BOUND was highly charged, emotional, and extremely erotic. It made for a great afternoon and evening read since I was unable to put it down until I read the last word. I thought it well written and I am thrilled to add an author to my automatic read list.
