Editor's Notes and Comments:
Description:
She's 18, she's beautiful and she's about to set off an epidemic of comic hysteria when she enrolls in a new high school as JUST ONE OF THE GUYS. Stars Golden Globe nominated actress Sherilyn Fenn ('Twin Peaks').
Amazon.com:
Though marketed as a raunchy teen sex comedy à la Porky's, Just One of the Guys is an amusing and well-acted comic riff on gender roles. Believing that she's lost a journalism contest because she's a woman, high school student Joyce Hyser disguises herself as a boy in order to see how the other half lives. Her investigation leads her to discover some interesting truths about how men and women treat each other in social and romantic situations. The screenplay by coproducers Jeff Franklin (a veteran TV scribe) and Dennis Feldman nicely balances the sex-driven gags with more character-driven material, which is well delivered by Hyser, Clayton Rohner as her eccentric pal, and especially Billy Jacoby as her perpetually aroused brother; the capable cast also includes Sherilyn Fenn and Arye Gross. Eighties music fans should also appreciate the soundtrack, which features tracks by Berlin, Lindsay Buckingham, and the Stooges. --Paul Gaita

if you do not know what banal and inane mean, you might like this movie. it is for those less mentally gifted, lacking in social skills...totally predictable, boring to the nth degree and infantile.
if you were to watch this with one of your kids, you would as ricky would say, 'lucy you have some splaining to do'. it in that arena would be totally embarassing. showing this to a young girl child of yours would make you want to buy a chastity belt for her eyes and ears.
the giggle snicker sexcapades are insulting to anyone's mind other than an adolescent...and even then, pity should be bestowed on the unfortunate mindless child.
it was actually painful to watch, seat squirming waiting for and end which did not come fast enough...i should have stopped, yes indeed...but i eat all that is on my plate, there are kids somewhere hungry...hopefully not for this tripe.

I bought this w/out having ever seen it and now I regret it. I will never watch it again due to the fact that is was BORING to say the least! I love 80's movies but this is no Weird Science/16 Candles/Pretty in Pink. I did not laugh not one time or even smile! And the little horny brother got on my last nerve. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.
