Product Description:
Conflict is an inevitable part of life, according to this ancient Chinese classic of strategy, but everything necessary to deal with conflict wisely, honorably, victoriously, is already present within us. Compiled more than two thousand years ago by a mysterious warrior-philosopher, The Art of War is still perhaps the most prestigious and influential book of strategy in the world, as eagerly studied in Asia by modern politicians and executives as it has been by military leaders since ancient times. As a study of the anatomy of organizations in conflict, The Art of War applies to competition and conflict in general, on every level from the interpersonal to the international. Its aim is invincibility, victory without battle, and unassailable strength through understanding the physics, politics, and psychology of conflict.

Do not let the title fool you. This is not so much about war as it is about relationships and leadership. I am a 50 year old house wife and mother. I am also a writer and constantly searching for insights and inspirations. I inherited this copy of the book from my son when he left for college. Read a page or two a day; sometimes a paragraph will do! The words are thousands of years old but the wisdom is timeless.

Great book! There are many versions of "The Art of War" but I liked this one. It includes Sun Tzu's words along with reviews/commentary from other prominent Chinese from the last 2000 years. It has a lengthy introduction but it is worthwile to read it all. This book is about strategy and information. It is easy to apply in many contemporary settings other than the military. It is a quick read and very worthwhile. This is one of those books you will want to keep and read again at a later date.

As a business major, The Art of War is an excellent tool when it comes to strategizing. However, this book goes beyond the professional. On a personal level, Sun Tzu's writings can apply to all aspects of life and it certainly has helped me. I can only imagine how effective this book is for the military...
