Product Description:
It's the pivotal test faced by every Navy SEAL: 120 sleepless hours of relentless physical punishment, interrupted only by hypothermia-inducing surf torture. Ensign Grey thought he knew what to expect, but when Seaman Murray attempts to blackmail an instructor who is determined to see him fail, Hell Week takes on a new meaning. With deteriorating health and a dangerous enemy in hot pursuit, the two unlikely friends struggle to survive. What happens in the darkness at the edge of the Pacific will change their lives forever.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Good read
Good book. Although labeled as fiction, the content and realism in describing the BUD/S experience is as accurate a portrayal as you'll find without actually going through it. The author did an excellent job of painting a very accurate picture of the raw experience. If you are considering going for it, this is a "must" read. It also may be helpful to any youngster considering entering one of the service academies as it explains the funk that settles in a persons mind when taking rounds from multiple directions with no end in sight.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Good book, but it ends before the story is over.
This book really gives the average reader a good idea of what SEAL training is all about. However, this book ends at hell week, and does not finish the story about the rest of the specialized training. I was really encouraged to read that SEAL training has not been softened up. It is no wonder they are still an elite fighting unit.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A hero's journey
This book certainly delivers on all that it promises to aspiring SEALs. The story is matter-of-fact, yet so real that I was drawn in instantly. As I read, I lived each moment with the class, and sat shivering under a blanket, drinking hot chocolate, and imagining aches and pain into my muscles.

This book offers plenty of shock value and will not disappoint those wanting an inside look at BUD/S training. However, this book is far more than that. This is a story of ambition, self-sacrifice, and human limits. Reid's account reveals the strength that a small number of incredible men find within themselves--the strength to withstand brutal training, and even brushes with death, just to prove that they can survive. It is also an inspiring story about the incredible bond that forms between men pushed to their limits, and the sacrifice that teammates are willing to make to save each other from failure. After reading Suffer in Silence, I have only awe and respect for those men who aspire to be SEALS and embark on this hero's journey, including those friends of mine that have dared to pursue their dream.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Suffer in Silence
I purchased this book for my husband as he only reads non-fiction. He enjoyed the book. A real look at what these men must go thru.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Be Proud of the best of our best.
This book should make every American proud of our US Navy SEALs. The courage, the endurance, the willingness to never give up is almost unhuman. If you are a terrorist, you will read this book and be very afraid. God Bless the US Navy SEALs, who, as we read this, sleep upon hard hard rock or sand in some untold remote location, without glory or compensation. True American Heroes.
