Product Description:
• Lower your risk of metabolic disorders, disease, and chronic weight gain
• Protect yourself against the estrogenic substances in the environment, products, water, and food
Learn how certain foods and herbs can protect you!
Estrogenic chemicals—known for causing the near extinction of various living species—are found in some of the most common foods we eat.
In this revolutionary diet book, Ori Hofmekler addresses the millions of overweight and obese individuals who have failed or are disappointed with other diets—those who suffer from yoyo dieting, weight gain rebounds, or accumulation of stubborn fat in the belly and other estrogen-sensitive areas. Focusing on our current over-exposure to estrogenic chemicals in the environment, foods, and water, The Anti-Estrogenic Diet provides a practical solution to fat gain, estrogen-related disorders (PMS, endometriosis, fibrocystic disease), and increased risk of common cancers in women and men (breast, ovarian, cervical, prostate).
Allowing you to still enjoy your favorite foods, the program is based on incorporating anti-estrogenic foods, spices, and herbs into your diet, while eliminating estrogenic foods and chemicals. Exposing dietary myths and fallacies, Hofmekler teaches readers that some foods commonly regarded as “healthy” may actually be harmful and vice versa.
Special chapters dedicated to readers with different needs and health conditions, recipes, a question-and-answer section, and a list of scientific references are also included in this valuable resource.

This had fantastic information, but it is terribly written. Don't read this one in bed, you'll never make it through.

I've been following some of the recommendations in this book, in addition to Dr. William Wong's protocol in "10 Natural Treatments You Haven't Heard of Until Now," adding only one new supplement per week at the most for the past couple of months. Dr. Wong's protocol addresses fibromyalgia directly, and The Anti-Estrogenic Diet seems to be helping indirectly by balancing hormones (I'm 60). I'm also on an anti-candida diet and find that the two are fairly compatible and I'm able to combine them. The book has nice little summaries of each main point, so you don't have to search for basic info when you need to refer back.

Hi,
I was disappointed in this book for a couple reasons...
1) The same information was said over and over in each chapter without much additional elaboration. Ideally a concept is introducted at a high-level at the beginning of a chapter, and further detail of the concept is described elsewhere in the chapter. This is lacking in this book - it basically says the same thing over and over and over without more detail. This book could easily have been 1/2 the size if the un-needed repetition was taken out.
2) I don't recall seeing any mention of how plastics used for food storage and heating can also affect levels of estrogen in the body due to leaching. I think this is an important topic when talking about factors that affect estrogen levels.
If I could do it again, I'd get this from the library and not purchase it.

I have been researching and testing diets and weight loss programs for almost 20 years. They all work if and when you are ready. This one has very correct information about the estrogen issue, and it is well worth reading, even if you are not willing to follow the instructions to the "t". It will reshape your views on food and nutrition.

This book makes a great deal of sense. If you can get your hands on a report about your own local water supply you will find that there is estrogen in your drinking water!!! The overchemicalization and over hormonization of our food culture is causing great disruption in our body's ability to operate in a normal manner. I agree with the author's premise that we must de-tox from all the chemical pollution we have stuffed inside our cells and try as best we can to remain free of the overprocessed stuff now offered in grocery stores and restaurants.
My only problem with the book was that it seemed disjointed and unorganized. I really should blame the publisher and not the author for not doing a better job of outline and organization. I would like to have seen a chapter or two of a complete list of "anti-estrogenic" foods and the combinations therof. And I would like to have seen at least the two weeks of de-tox in a suggested daily menu format, and many more suggested recipes. The author speaks of athletes and people involved in intense physical training and I believe most of the people who will be reading this book are interested in the loss of stubborn weight gain. There should be more information dedicated to that much larger audience, in my opinion.
It is a scholarly work and those people who are not familiar with the chemical names of substances will have a harder time trying to make sense of which substances and suppliments are preferrable. The author and publisher need to revise this book into a more readable and organized format.
