"Vegan A Go-Go!" is Sarah Kramer's latest vegan tome. Except this is the size of one of those little inspirational pocket books. It's supposed to be convenient for traveling--if you have acess to a kitchen,or have a motor home. If you don't,that's bad luck. Kramer has recipes for nut cheeses,vegan stews and desserts,and tries to keep it simple. She uses the easiest recipes possible. Thankfully,she doesn't call for Irish moss or Himalayan salt like some vegans do.
"Vegan A Go-Go!" has a fun retro look. Sarah Kramer has as many tats as Amy Winehouse,but she's cleaner. The only shocking thing she's done has been starring in the "Vag--a Monologues." So,she's not going to rehab anytime soon because she's too busy drinking down soy milk smoothies and freshly squeezed juices.
"Vegan A Go-Go!" is supposed to make traveling simpler for vegans. Unfortunately,Kramer doesn't list restaurants that offer vegan options. She assumes people will cook on the road. Try asking for a veggie burger at a truck stop in Iowa. And those corn chowders tend to contain milk--from cows.
"Vegan A Go-Go!" has fun recipes,but it's not as practical as Kramer intends it to be. Bon appetit!

Everyone of her books should be an essential resource in any vegetarian / vegan kitchen. I am not a strict vegan or vegetarian, her books are some of the most down-to-earth books I have in my library.

Between me and my daughter, we have all of Sarah's cookbooks. Vegan a go go came into my life just as I was diagnosed with celiac disease and multiple food allergies, in addition to already being vegan. Most of the recipes are quick, delicious and are easy to prepare while staying in someone's home. Sarah's book has relieved me of the anxiety of traveling with food limitations. She has spaces in the back of the book for additional recipes, which I've already filled up. Her Rightouse Orbs are yummy and the Chocolate Banana no-bake pie is great...even without the crust (celia, ya know) Take this little cookbook and run with it!

Look, no one loves Sarah Kramer more than I do. I think she's terrific and I have her other books.
There are two HUGE problems with this teeny tiny book.
1. It's useless as a true vegan travel tool. Virtually every recipe would be just too involved to create on the road. And the information is too thin to make a book out of. That's why it was produced in a mini book format. Yes, you could pack it but you'd never look at it.
2. Most of the recipes are a rehash. Just in a tiny format.
So if you have a very simple Kramer recipe you really like. Just bring a copy of it with you on your subsequent trip. It will take up even less space than this tiny useless book.

I have all of Sarah's cookbooks, and they are the very first ones I always reach for when I'm looking for new recipes or old favorites. This little cookbook is little, but it holds a lot. It's designed to be small so you can take it with you when you travel, so that you have your favorite recipes from her other books with you. There are all my favorites, plus some new recipes, and space in the back to write down any of your other favorites that weren't printed. Another winner.
