When I ordered this book I'll admit I was just trying to spend enough to get free shipping but as it turns out this one was one of my better reads.

A wonderful tale that captured my attention right from the beginning. The interaction between H/H was so tangible that you actually forget you're reading a book, you are so caught up in the tale. This was great writing fom Ms Linden.
I like the fact it wasn't angsty and there was no silly misundertanding. It did have was a little bit of suspense though, but that didn't distract from the story itself.
If you want a charming love story, this is it.
This book had its smile moments, especially when Hannah's daughter, the 4yr old Molly calls the proud Duke of Exeter, Mr Excetra! And she used his bedroom for her hide and seek games:)
The dialogue between H/H was great. Loved Hannah's fiestiness, she was not prepared to back down from the ice-cold, rigid duke. And she gave as good as she got. I loved how Marcus went from this cold, proud man to one with a heart as he started to fall in love with Hannah.
And the love scene when he finds he can't let her go, phew!!! that was well done!
I loved the secondary characters of his stepmother and sister, Celia, who loved Hannah from the begining and tried every trick possible to throw these two together, very first when they thought something was wrong with the marriage and later when they found out the truth that Marcus and Hannah weren't really married.
And it was nice to see his brother David, goes from being utterly useless and selfish, to redeeming himself totally in the end. Which sets him nicely for his book, 'What a Rogue Desires"
'A Rake's Guide to Seduction' is Celia's story.

I finished this book in a few hours and enjoyed it...the plot seemed slightly contrived at times and the "reveal" of the hero's feelings seemed slightly off, and I didn't care a whit about the "mystery" that intertwined with the story (linden could have absolutely left that out--i'd skip it if I had it to read all over again), but I enjoyed the book overall, and will purchase the other David's (the hero's brother) story.

This book did not knock my socks off, nor did it make my belly jump with butterflies, nor did it make me wish that I was the Duchess of Exeter....but it was an enjoyable read. It was a quick and entertaining book. Not too much fluff and not bogged down with unnecessary details. I didn't feel a connection with the duke or Hannah as I have with many other regency romances. But overall, I would recommend reading it.

I bought this book because of the rave reviews. What a disappointment. This book was uninspired, the characters and plot were boring and there was no true connection between the hero and heroine. It seemed as if the only thing drawing these two together was the fact that they occupied adjorning rooms. I also thought it odd that the hero showed almost no interest in getting to know the heorine's daughter. After he marries the mother, does he plan to just ignore the kid until he can get her out of his house? I kind of felt sorry for the poor little girl. At least David acknowledged her existence.
