Product Description:
Independent trader Trilby Elliot is making some not-quite-legal modifications to her starfreighter, when an unexpected visitor falls out of space. Literally. He’s crashed onto the uninhabited planet of Avanar in a crippled ’Sko fighter–the last place you’d expect to find a Zafharin military officer because the ’Sko and the Zafharin have been at war as long as Trilby can remember.
Rhis Vanur is your typically arrogant Zafharin. But to Trilby’s surprise, he doesn’t look down on her or her slapdash ship. Still, Trilby’s learned the hard way that even though she found Rhis, she can’t keep him. She’s just a low-budget jump jockey as far as men like him are concerned. She’s not falling for his offer to help…until Port Rumour reports her best friend missing and Trilby learns that the ’Sko are hunting both her and Rhis. Now they’re in it together for better, for worse–or till death blasts them to oblivion....

This is not a heavy sci-fi offering, and in fact is crawling with "girl cooties" so I do not recommend it for the space-battles-in-parabolic-curves set. I do recommend it for anyone who will enjoy a light hearted, well written homage to the original Star Wars trilogy. It's a romance, so if you don't like that sort of thing, I suggest you go read something by Larry Niven.
The heroine is a smart, sassy Han Solo-esque character trying to make a living being a small-time independent space freighter. She rescues a downed fighter pilot (against her better judgment) and finds herself over her head in international intrigue. It's very cold war flavored and has a satisfying romance story and a strong, brooding hero. Its nice to read about a not-very educated heroine who is still very bright, and has managed to boot-strap herself into a reasonable place in the world, even if it's threatened by corrupt governments and alien bugs. It's a little reminiscent of the TV series Firefly.

The beginning of the book was a little campy. The hero and heroine meet when the hero wakes up naked in her sick bay. That was more than a bit over the top/contrived like "Uhuh, she couldn't give the man a hospital gown? He had to be nekkid? Riiight." The characters aren't bad, though, although their romance feels a bit abrupt and kind of forced forward prematurely by the author just to keep the plot moving.
This novel also features a Big Misunderstanding about the hero's identity. Then the heroine continues to be mad at him about it for far longer than she should. I felt there was too much made up language and jargon going on. I don't mind jargon too much as a rule, it's just when you have whole paragraphs all over the book where the person is speaking in nothing but their made up spacer's talk and none of it is really clicking or piquing my interest that it wears thin.
The romance was all right, if, as i said, a bit abrupt. I thought the two characters had some sweet moments together even if the whole thing felt a little labored.
I sound like I didn't like it but really it wasn't 'awful, pulling teeth, Why did this get published?' Bad. I did skim at the end but that was mostly because the whole pacing of the book was a bit too slow for my taste, and then it felt like it should have been over about a hundred pages before it was. The last bit of plot business felt tacked on and unnecessary. By the time I got to page 300 I was just done with the space jargon and convoluted conspiracy plots.
Worth a read if you're looking for something light and don't mind skimming past the boring bits. Just rent it, though. Don't buy. This book really isn't worth a reread.
That reminds me, way to beat us over the head with the title, much! Sheesh. She seriously references the whole "Finders Keepers" line at least 2 or 3 times EVERY CHAPTER. Once or twice would have been sufficient for the whole book I think, Ms. Sinclair.

I ordered this book after reading ACCIDENTAL GODDESS and wow, what a fun ride. Sinclair knows how to crank it all up, then deliver a tasty ending on a platter. I've yet to find a book she's written that I didn't like--and that I don't plan to keep and reread again and again.

This was the very first Linnea Sinclair book I read. Now I'm hooked. I was totally enthralled by the characters and the plot. Put down your TV remote and try reading this book. You will be thoroughly entertained.

Linnea Sinclair has created the perfect blend of deep space adventure by mixing love and passion with a genetically enhanced hero and a lovely, spunky heroine who find themselves responsible for saving the galaxy against the dreaded 'Sko. Thrown together by chance on a deserted planet, Trilby pulls Rhis from a crashed space fighter, and takes him to her ship to treat his injuries. Once Rhis regains consciousness, He attempts to hijack Trilby's ship, planning on returning to his ship, where he is the Senior Captain. Finding himself on a dilapidated ship where Trilby is in the midst of repairs instead of an alien 'Sko ship, Rhis joins forces with Trilby to repair her ship, and to return to "civilized" space lanes to pick up Trilby's subsequent job which she desperately needs so that she can make payments on her ship, and to just survive. Unbeknown-st to Trilby, Rhis has gained control over the ship and is taking her back with him to his area of the galaxy. Thus Trilby becomes part of a team Rhis has organized to stop the evil Sko from taking over the galaxy.
I adore this story. It is filled with heroism, adventure, betrayal, courage, and the ability of love to redeem a lost soul. I would give this book 10 stars if I could, but I am limited to only 5. This book is a Keeper.
