Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - A definite page turner
I stayed up late 3 nights in a row to finish this book. The story flows unobtrusively and when you think you've figured what is going to happen subsequent an unexpected twist throws you off track.
In Victorian England the members of the aristocracy gain their titles by their magic ability. Unfortunately Felicity loses her parents' title early on because of her inability to perform any spell. Sir Terence Blackwell is a shape-shifter and a hunter of evil magic performed by relics. He smells relic magic around Felicity but can't tell if she is using it herself or it's being used against her. He decides to court her or even marry her so that he can keep an eye on her. Unfortunately for him, it's his hands that he can't keep of her and ends up falling for her.

Let me say that I am no great fan of paranormal in general, so it's not the shape sifters or illusions that grabbed be in this story; it's the romance itself as well as the mystery. In fact I expected more in terms of magic but this book focuses mainly on the shape-shifting and far less in magic spells (of which we mainly see their effects rather than their casting). Nevertheless I enjoyed this book immensely and found myself reluctant to put it away. Mostly light, but not too light, with a few touches of darkness (mainly Terency's loss of his brother), it is an engrossing read. The reason I rated it with 4 stars and not 5 is not that I didn't enjoy it but I didn't love it. Nor will I miss it or think about it again now it's finished. I had a very good time reading it, and will buy the second of the series when it's out, but sir Terence is not going to haunt my dreams along with my favorite heroes.

ENCHANTING THE LADY RELICS OF MERLIN BOOK1
KATHRYNE KENNEDY

Rated by buyers 5 Enchantments

Let me introduce you to Felicity, a young woman raised in the elite circles of her society. A young woman who most people never seem to notice. She has always been different from the others because so much has been expected of her and she is so afraid that they will find out her secret that she has no magic. In a world full of magic that is her circles, that is unheard of especially since she is the daughter of a duke and they have the most magic, eclipsed only by the royal family. Can she overcome her handicap and find happiness or will the evils of magic destroy her forever? She has to find help. Then one magical night, she finds her rescue in the amber eyes of Sir Terrance.

Now our hero: Sir Terrance is a mere Baron. But, oh, what a man. He fears no man but many fear him, because you see, he is not an ordinary man - he is a were. And they, weres, are immune to magic. This man has a mission to find the people that possess the relics of Merlin and bring them to the prince. The mission has consumed his thoughts forever it seemed, until one enchanted night he looked into the eyes of the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and his world is turned upside down.

This is a tale from a magical world a little like our Victorian age but here there is magic, and some of the magic is evil and it seeks to devour Felicity. Can Sir Terrence save her before it is too late and can he learn to follow his heart and realize she is not the possessor of the magical relic? And will she follow him and learn that everything you see is not as it seems?

I really liked this story. I love this magical world that Ms Kennedy has created. It is a unique blend of magic and the old Victorian England. I loved how the story just seemed to flow across the pages. The interaction between Felicity and Terrance was just spellbinding. You could not wait to see what happened next. I am so glad this is a series and I cannot wait to read the subsequent installment in this magical tale that keeps you hanging on until the next. This author has unlimited potential. I see her as the subsequent great fantasy author.

Ms Kennedy is a new author to the Fantasy realm. She has won several awards and I am sure she will win many more. She is an Air Force brat so has traveled to other parts of the world. She is married with two sons and two madcap dogs. Please read `Enchanting the Lady' - you will not be disappointed.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - I just couldn't put it down!
A delightful, satisfying read full of well developed characters and relationships cleverly and imaginatively written. Highly recommended.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Interesting Twist
After all the 5 star reviews, I was prepared to love this book. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

The fresh twist of adding magic into the standard historical romance was fun at first, but the novelty wore off and the romance part of the story didn't measure up.

It was an engaging read, and a decent book, but not worthy of 5 stars.

I will continue the series and hope that Ms. Kennedy's wonderful imagination can bring the romance aspect of her stories up to par with the magic.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A JEWEL OF A BOOK - ABSOLUTELY LOVELY!!!!
ENCHANTING THE LADY - catapults Kathryne Kennedy into immediate stardom with this absolutely charming story. Like a bon-bon to be savored - this unusual and most engrossing paranormal romance will take your breath away and you will savor it much after you are done with the book!

London's late Victorian time is a time of magic. Where everyone practices magic and the higher the noble title, the more powerful the magic. Felicity Seymour needs to pass the magical test to retain her parent's holdings and the duchy. After their deaths, Felicity has lived with her Aunt and Uncle who have tried to train her for her testing - though it is evident that her parent's magic clearly didn't pass down to her, for she has no magical powers.

Terence Blackwell is a shapeshifter - his animal form a beautiful and regal lion. A spy for Price Albert, he protects the royal family and London from the Magic derived from Merlin's relics, which were scattered and hiden long ago. He is a hunter of relics - for relics have very dangerous magical powers in the hands of those that might use them for evil.

After smelling the scent of relic magic on Felicity -Terence concocts a plan to court Felicity in order to gain possession of this relic and destroy it. Much to his dismay - he falls for Felicity. Her guilelessness and innocence are something that Terence is unaccustomed to and he is further confused as he can't determine whether Felicity is the user of dark magic or the victim.

Take an enchanted London very much the likes of Harry Potter's and with the exquisite romance, passion and tenderness of Lisa Kleypas and you have a sure winner! Kennedy has crafted a marvelous novel. The main protagonists are solid and real. With fabulous secondary characters and additions such as "Daisy", which am sure you will adore! I can't wait for Kennedy's subsequent installment in the RELICS OF MERLIN. What a remarkable and fabulous start to a great series!
