Product Description:
As the most notorious rakehell in Regency London, Lord Damien Sinclair sought only his own pleasure, until his beloved younger sister, Olivia, was injured and her reputation ruined during a forbidden tryst. Now Damien will do anything to destroy the young nobleman guilty of hurting Olivia. . . . And Vanessa Wyndham will protect her foolish brother at all costs, even if it means entering into an illicit bargain with the dangerously handsome 'Lord Sin.' When Vanessa offers to act as a companion to Lord Sin's invalid sister, Damien agrees with one scandalous condition--he'll forgive her brother's debt if she agrees to become his mistress.

And so the seduction begins. But once the affair has ended, will they escape with their hearts intact?

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - I did not like the story line.
Damien has never loved anyone. He starts falling in love with Vanessa and decides he doesn't want to be in love.

CAUTION SPOILERS: So, he acts cold and indifferent to her, and lets her believe he doesn't care anymore. Later he changes his mind and allows himself to admit he loves her. That's it. That's the main story. I can see this happening in some cases. For example, a student with financial needs must spend all his time studying and working and has no time to get involved with romance. But this is different. Damien is a wealthy man with time on his hands. If he loves someone and feels wonderful when with her, he will want to keep being with her. In this story he deprives himself for no good reason. The reason provided by the author had to do with his father having mistresses and a failed marriage.

Aside from that problem, the writing left something to be desired. Nothing surprised or delighted me. Events were predictable. It was a standard romance novel with a bunch of sex scenes. It was ok, but I wouldn't recommend buying it. Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: twelve. Setting: 1810 London England. Copyright: 2000. Genre: regency romance.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Wow!
The title of this book couldn't have described it any better. From start to finish, I could not put it down. Romance....yes! Passion....yes! Lovable characters....yes Laughter.....yes! Great plot.....yes!

This book was outstanding and I could not name you one thing that this book is lacking. This is my very first time reading anything from Nicole Jordan and it certainly won't be my last. I found myself laughing, crying and always with a smile on my face. You just couldn't help it. The dialogue between them kept you glued to the book, just waiting to hear what was coming next.

A notorious rake, Damien seeks revenge on the young man that ruined and physically injured his sister. Thats where Vanessa comes in. She will do whatever it takes to protect her brother, and the only way to do that is to become Damien's mistress.

When you think of a rake, caring and tenderness, don't
usually enter your mind, but that is what makes him so lovable. He wants Vanessa terribly, but is determined that she come to him. This is where the seduction begins.
His gentle, kind words go right to your heart. You can't help but fall in love with him, and it seems neither can Vanessa.

Vanessa, the victim of a loveless, and destructive marriage is vulnerable, but not weak in any way. She is witty and although she is at his mercy, she gives and good as she gets. Damien gives her the time she needs to feel comfortable with him, and seduces her with tenderness and sweet words. I never knew how sensous, the simple act of running his hand down her cheek could be. He slowly but surely draws her in and she falls head over heels in love with him. How could she not? The chemistry between them is hot and sizzling! But can a rake, give up his mistresses and debauchery for the true love of a woman? By the end he finds that although he is a master of seduction, it is he, that is the one seduced.

I also enjoyed the romance between Olivia and Aubrey. She is left a cripple and it truly tugs at your heartstrings. Her struggles add depth to an already engaging story. And although you tend to dislike Aubrey in the beginning of the book, he realizes the enormity of what he did and changes for the woman he loves.

It took me one day to read this book, because once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. From the very first page to the last, it enchanted, and entertained me. It drew me in and never let me go. I felt like I was there, like it was really happening to me. When a book can touch me enough to make me cry, I knew without a doubt it is a five star book!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - 10 stars because this book is absolutely fantastic!
This book is absolutely fantastic. It totally captured my imagination and heart and left me rooting for Vanessa and Damien to overcome their fears and have a 'happily ever after'.

The character development of Vanessa and Damien was brilliant. Damien was slowly losing his rakehell ways and discovering that love was indeed a gift not to be squandered.

It was wonderful the way Nicole Jordan wrote about Damien falling in love with Vanessa and his struggles to come to terms with this 'love'.

Sure, the book did have some hot sex scenes in it and yet I admit that I hurriedly skimmed through the sex scenes to get to the dialogue between Vanessa and Damien.

I just could not put it down till I finished it. It made me cry and laugh and smile alongside with Damien and Vanessa.

This is definitely a keeper in my list of favourite books and no, I will not lend my copy to anyone but instead buy them a copy.

I won't give this 5 stars but 10 stars!

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Heart Broken
If I were to rate this novel having read only until page 169, this book would have rated a 5 or beyond. The characters and setting vividly came to life under Ms. Jordan talented pen. Each main and minor character felt real with their quirks and background with feelings the everyday reader can relate to. She slowly developed the passionate relationship between Damien and Olivia leaving me breathless when they finally gave in to their passions.

Then she completely destroyed the rest of the book! It was like reading about people with duel personality disorder. The main characters, primarily Damien, became aggrivating and empty. I understand there is a need for conflict, but this was just irritating. I found myself angry for wasting my time coming to care about these characters when their previous personalities disappeared only to be replaced by the quintessential selfish man and close mouthed, accepting woman.

Had the middle of the book been even slightly readable I would have felt the ending fitting, but by the time I got that far I was so disappointed in them both I just couldn't care less.

If you want to read a book about a man troubled by falling in love then read anything by Sherrylin Kenyon. I guarantee the payoff is ten times greater!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Damien & Vanessa, Aubrey & Olivia
This book appears to be expertly written. It was difficult to put down, it kept my interest. Apparently, it is the very first book in a series of 5? about the Hellfire League (Englands most exclusive Rogues). I may check out the subsequent one, The Passion.

In reading this, for some reason, I started thinking of the Tom Cruise movie, Eyes Wide Shut. This book showed, in detail, the
steamy underside of London, the perversions available that city
held.

One of the things that struck me while reading the book was how, no matter where the story drifted, Nicole Jordan always managed to get me interested in her story telling. I think she could write any kind of book she chose to write, she is so good in so many ways. What I mean is, she has talents writing heartfelt stories, love stories, seductive stories, mystery stories, although this particular book didn't hold a lot on the 'mystery' dept., I can see how she could do that as well.

The funny thing about this book was, how the prologue started off on the steamy side, then, when the very first chapter actually began, it switched over to blackmail, then, till about 1/2 way through the book, the tenderness & sadness took over, then, the subsequent quarter or more of the book was about depravity & debauchery.
The last part dealt with love, for both couples.

Though this is not my usual kind of book, it was a nice change to read something different.
