Product Description:
She's the unsuspecting beauty with something everybody wants.
He's the secret agent in so deep nobody can find him.
Until now...

CIA operative Zachary Prade made his name taking out world threats. But now he’s tracking a very different kind of danger and her name is Lily Robbins. Lily holds the key to a valuable encoded file that’s about to fall into the wrong hands. All Zach has to do is retrieve the key and forget the rain-soaked beauty who came to his Central American plantation seeking shelter from more than the weather.

Lily knows him as Alejandro Campos, the seductive drug lord who saved her life. They met when she traveled to El Salvador to film a documentary…and got caught in the middle of a nasty drug-and-guerrilla war. Now, back in the U.S., hunted by spooks and assassins, Lily has to trust Campos again. Except his name isn’t Campos, and he’s arousing a passion so hot it’s criminal. That is, if they can survive long enough to enjoy it…

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Well done.
Lily Robbins had gone to Central America to film a documentary on a group of Catholic nuns running an orphanage near the Honduran border. Within days of her arrival, she found herself in the middle of guerrillas and drug runners. A dying pilot gave Lily a macramé bracelet and, though she had no idea at the time, put her directly in the line of fire.

CIA operative Zachary "Zach" Prade had saved Lily's life in El Salvador. He had been deep undercover as a drug lord named Alejandro Campos - eight years in the making. Zach had been pulled back to the U.S. to deal with the bracelet. Within the cheap-looking bracelet was a flash drive that people would, and have, killed for. Zach's orders are to retrieve the bracelet. No one knew if Lily really was the innocent lady in the wrong place, at the wrong time, or if she was another bad guy. Zach sure hoped she was innocent. He would much rather date Lily than turn her over to the C.I.A.

**** Most of the focus is on the mission(s) rather than the blooming romance between Lily and Zach. That is as it should be; however, I do not feel enough time was given to tension and brewing trust between the couple. Do not let that make you even hesitate to pick up a copy of this fast paced novel though. This story over flows in danger and excitement. A fabulous adventure, to be sure! ****

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Cutting Loose
Albuquerque schoolteacher Lily Robbins has spent the past few weeks trying to relax after the fiasco her trip to El Salvador turned out to be. She's also trying to shake her inappropriate attraction to Alejandro Campos, a notorious Central American drug lord. She's about to head to her father's ranch when all hell breaks loose. Suddenly she's on the run with valuable information and the only man she can trust is Campos.

For eight years, CIA operative Zachary Prade has been living in Central America as Alejandro Campos. Now he's been abruptly pulled out of his deep cover, and all because of a woman who turned up at his plantation one night, needing his help. He never thought he'd see Lily Robbins again, no matter how much he thought of her, but it seems he's about to have to pull her out of danger once more. With an assortment of international baddies on their trail, can Zach save the girl, complete his mission for the CIA, and keep his heart intact?

Having recently read On the Loose, the seventh Steele Street book, I was really excited to read Cutting Loose. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. Cutting Loose features plenty of action, a hero to die for, an awesome getaway car, and a lot of fun and interesting secondary characters. Whether as Alejandro Campos or as Zachary Prade, Zach is a great hero. His sad, difficult, and wild past makes him sympathetic. He's tough, ruthless when necessary, yet unexpectedly sweet and tender at times. Lily's toughness, shooting skills, and willingness to do what she has to in order to survive makes her a good match for Zach. There are several chapters from the points of view of one of the villains chasing them and a couple of the Steele Street team members helping them, but these chapters do not detract from the main story, which is quick and suspenseful. Zach and Lily's love is forged and tested under extreme circumstances, and I enjoyed every minute of the ride. If you like action, suspense, secret agents, and tortured heroes, you'll want to pick up Cutting Loose ASAP!

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Disappointing eighth in a series
After eight years deep undercover as a Central American drug lord, Zach Prade has been pulled out and returned to the US. His very first assignment is to retrieve a bracelet with top secret information that fell into the hands of a documentary filmmaker. He soon discovers that this won't be a quick snatch job when he notices a couple suspicious men are also following Lily. All hell breaks loose when the henchmen show up with guns and to Zach's surprise, Lily kills one. They go on the lam to return to the safety of the Steele Street gang in Denver, but not before another person after the bracelet identifies them as the killers along with the very identifiable car Zach chose for surveillance - a rare cherry blue 1968 Shelby Cobra Mustang. As they spend more time together, Lily's reluctance to get involved with a man she believes to be a drug dealer melts away. Can they get to Denver before the rest of the bad guys catch up with them?

As I scratched my head wondering who all these people in this very overpopulated book were, I discovered that this is the eighth book in a series. And unlike many series romances, this one really doesn't stand alone. The central couple only appears in a third of the book. The rest of the book is needless romantic build up for future novels, techno geek gadgetry, and far too much with secondary characters that really don't move this particular story along. Zach and Lily have scorching chemistry but their relationship was underdeveloped. I would have liked far more time spent with the two on the road, and more interaction with Bayonne and Kitten. When they finally meet, it is such a let down. Perhaps I would have liked it better had I read the other seven novels, but doubt I'll bother since this one was pretty average.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Zachary Prade, aka Alejandro Campos is a great hero
Whether he's feeling vulnerable or fighting off the bad guys, Zach's one cool dude! Honorable and handsome, too. The author did an excellent job of combining romance with action to make this one of the best books in the series. No one creates male heros better than Tara Janzen. No one.
I was so glad Dylan and the extraordinary Skeeter were in it as much as they were. (I was a bit disappointed that none of the other characters turned up in the book ON THE LOOSE, with the exception of one sighting of Dylan Hart.)

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Very, very good.
Simple plot, multilayered relationships. I had to read it a couple of times before I really appreciated how wonderful this novel is.

I loved how the strands dovetailed together. The final showdown scene was brilliantly done. Tense, exciting, clever and it almost ended in tragedy.

The relationship between the main couple isn't really about true love. But so what? Both are adults and if they only make each other happy for a few years, it doesn't mean their feelings for each other are less intense.

I loved the road-trip part of the plot. Lily and Zach are the good guys but for a while they are portrayed like they were some kind of killer-couple on the run through the open spaces of New Mexico.

But most of all I like the world the author has created. A fantasy spy world that references bang up to date current affairs. I also appreciate the research done on custom cars, custom computers and weapons. A quirk of this series is that many action scenes take place out-of-story. That's why the series remains firmly in the women's market. Although this particular novel has some great little insights into the workings of the mind of a guy. And the writing style is wonderful too. Sometimes it fools the reader into believing this is a lightweight series.

Subtle and very entertaining.

Let's face it though. Zach should have taken a plane straight to DC. What kind of an op would drive such a highly distinctive auto on a mission. But these are minors.
