Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:
The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin’s Fae-infested shores in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery—and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Bemoaning Moning
This books was HUGELY Disappointing, and a waste of copy and paper, not to mention buying it at full price. Basically it didn't do anything but shuffle for the subsequent book, without really delivering anything. Read the last 4 pages, which is where all the action is, and you understand a huge waste of tree sacrifice. I have not been so disappointed since Vonnegut started writing junk, which I as well, quit buying. I will possibly read the subsequent book not when very first launched, not at anywhere near full price. Definitely #5 which probably should have been 3. Just not at full price, not until bargin days. That ship has sailed.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Good, could be better.....
I just finished the book and I have to say, the book sucks you in from the very very first page. I wanted to know what was going to happen to all of the characters in the book.

Yes, it has it's share of fluff, and yes it is dark and yes the ending really kinda sucks, but it's the 3rd book in a series of 5. Normally, the middle books aren't the strongest and are just there to move the story along. I think the publisher made a mistake about making this a 5 book series and should have just made it a trilogy. That would have worked better and probably appesed the fans a little bit more.

My advice, give it a chance, remember it's FICTION!, it's not romance and roll with it.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - 4 stars until the last three chapters, they get only 1 star
I read this book non-stop. It was better than book two. A good solid four stars, until I got to the last three chapters and realized she was going to pull a Laurell K. Hamilton on me. I'm beginning to believe every author who writes in the genera is a bit of a sadist at heart.

The writers pull you in with inferred promises and innuendo. They let you get all cozy, warm, and expectant, then throw ice water in your face with the last three pages. That is what this ending felt like. Sorry Karen, your explanation page, after the ending, just did not take the chill off.

Maybe I should just read the last three chapters in the bookstore before I buy the subsequent one. I could save the extra $20 I spent buying the hard cover and wait for it to come out in paper back.

PS:
Movies are NEVER as good a reader's imagination. They sort of ruin the whole ambiance of the world we've pictured in our minds. Besides, I hate movies that end like this last book, abruptly.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - OMG, Shocking Ending!
OK, for me I have been sucked into the entire series from the very first odd page, but I can definitely see why some people would really dislike this book. I myself felt bereft at the end and horrified for the heroine. But it was still a jaw dropping ending that will guarantee my reading the subsequent installment.

If you're a newbie to the series;MacKayla Lane traveled from backwoods Ashford, Ga to the streets of Dublin to avenge and solve the murder of her beloved sister. Only when she gets there she has more than grief and culture shock to contend with. She learns the hard way that she is a sidth-seer, able to see the ancient faeries crossing into our world, good and bad. At a time when Dublin is being invaded by the dark Unseelie Fae this is very bad,but with the help of the decadent and inhuman anti-hero Jericho Barrons, she's been dealing.

Spoiler Alert!:
The dealing is done! Barron's left to go off to Scotland to help the MacKelter druids keep the walls between our world and the fae from crashing down on Halloween. It didn't work. They fell, the world is now over run with crazed, evil Unseelie fae now un-prisoned after 700,000 years. The fae queen is in hiding. Near everyone in Dublin was rounded up and fed to the Shades or murdered; hundreds of thousands of people. The entire city is a Dark Zone where man can no longer survive. The abbey of the sidthe-seers has been invaded by shades and they think Mac did it. She thinks Barron's caused it and feels betrayed. And worst of all for Mac, having been unable to leave Dublin before the collapse to get to safety she was found the morning after and raped by the Unseelie princes;War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death. Just as her brain and body were dying she was picked up by the evil Lord Master, her sisters murderer. Now priya, he can use her however he likes. And unless Jericho Barrons can come save her she and the world are doomed.

How can you not read the subsequent installment!? This must be murder for the Dublin board of tourism, though.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - A whole lotta work for so little reward
Faefever has prompted my very first comment/review of a book. I enjoyed the very first two books in this series. I didn't think they were exceptional but they were entertaining. Faefever, in my opinion, was so bland. It left me feeling empty and cheated. I had a very difficult time "getting into this book." This starts out slow and continues on in this vein for over half the book. When something interesting happens plotwise it seems to be immediately shut down by Mac's self-reflection that goes on and on. Of course this is one of the problems with a book in very first person. By the time I got to the "big night before the dawn" my hopes had risen for the conclusion but then "dawn" came and it just jerked to a complete halt. I was sorely disappointed with this book because I really like this author.
