I loved this book it is funny and filled with the romance that people cannot deny. I loved the part of her telling about the babies and the real magic of that moment it, tugged at my heart strings, I can read Susan Donovan many times over and This book THE KEPT WOMAN is a book that.
I cried while reading, I would tell anyone that is deciding it is a great buy a story that will really be remembered...

I was browsing in a bookstore and thumbing through books, reading the back covers and maybe a few pages and then putting them back on the shelf and moving on. Then, like a gem hidden among a bunch of ordinary stones, I found this book. I bought it and while riding the train home I started reading it. I walked in the house and sat down and read it. I skipped dinner, never turned on the tv, stayed up way beyond my bedtime and just kept reading until the very last page (sob!). Loved the plot, loved the characters, loved the humour and the romance. First thing I did in the morning was call a friend and say, "You have to read this book!"

I would really give this one 4.5 stars. I liked this book so much better than Take a Chance on Me. Jack and Sam are great together and you will find yourself energized as their love story unfolds. It's a fairy tale come true!

I absoluetly loved this book. The perfect love story, with a little Warren & Annette quality going on. He was the eternal playboy, and she was the one that changed him. Its a fast and easy read, and is finished long before you want it to end. I think if your looking for that one book to take your mind off of the chaos of every day life, if just for a little while, this is the one.

Samantha Monroe is barely making ends meet. Working herself into a stupor every day doing hair, Sam is almost ready to give up. Over three years ago her lowlife ex husband decided he was gay and skipped out. Sam hasn't seen him since. Receiving yet another call from her three year old's preschool, Sam knows that she has hit rock bottom. That night when she and a group of friends get together for their monthly Drinks and Depression session at a local bar, Sam verbalizes that she needs to be a kept woman. Innocently spoken but not forgotten by one of Sam's friends, the subsequent day Sam is approached with a proposition.

Jack Tolliver, extreme playboy and senator wannabe, needs to change his image - according to his handlers. It seems since he was caught ogling a woman's fanny during a speech that the public is not inclined to vote for him. Jack knows he is the best person for the job but without public support and votes; he will lose the senate seat he is aiming for. His campaign advisors have a plan and it involves a certain redhead and single mother of three.

Jack and Samantha negotiate the terms of their agreement and the charade begins. Jack's numbers start to go up and early polls show Jack's popularity increasing. The polls aren't totally accurate however. They don't show how much Jack and Sam are attracted to each other nor do they show how far one scorned woman will go to get to the bottom of Jack's pretend engagement. Get to the bottom she will, and Jack's life, as he knows it will be turned upside down.

THE KEPT WOMAN by Susan Donovan is a delightful and humorous look at the ends and outs of politics as well as one man's journey to self-awareness. I enjoyed watching the playboy come to grips with the fact that he no longer wanted to play around. As for Samantha, she was one tough adversary and I loved how she and Jack came to an understanding. Their falling in love was just icing on the cake.

THE KEPT WOMAN by Susan Donovan kept me entertained from beginning to end. THE KEPT WOMAN is a winner of a read in my book!
