Product Description:

Anything can happen after dark . . .

Tired of being treated like a servant by her own family, Lady Jane Guthrie finally has a chance to escape . . . at least for one night. Attired in a daring gown, she arrives at a scandalous courtesans' masquerade ball looking forward to her few hours of freedom. But when she sees Seth Rutledge, her skin begins to tingle with anticipation. Many years ago, Seth broke her heart by falling for her beautiful, title-hungry sister. But now here he is, right in front of her, offering her his lips . . .

Embittered by war, Seth returns home to inherit the title that would have once won him the woman of his dreams. Though duty demands he wed, he's convinced passion no longer has a place in his life . . . until a masked siren sets his heart aflame. Desperate to find her again, he has no idea it's his childhood friend Jane—and that after one night together their lives will never be the same.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - could not put down
Her stories follow a similar line, but she keeps the main 2 characters together consistently, which keeps the story and the romance moving. I did not find this heroine's past relationship depressing like other reviewers. This book is wonderful, and I have now bought all of her books.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - One Night with You"
Lady Jane Guthrie remain in a heartless marriage for six-years
to an unfaithful husband. After her husband's death, her
brother-in-law and his family moved in, took over her home,
and treated her like a servant. Even though, her husband had
been dead more than a year. Jane's brother-in-law refused to
allow her to come out of mourning, keeping her a prisoner in
her own home. Jane became bored with her life. She felt a void
and wanted a night out. The Duchness of Shillington and the
Duchess of Derring, her two best friends, attended a Bordello
Masquerade Ball given by Madame Fleur. Her friends dressed
Jane in a flirtatious evening grown and she was hidden behind
a mask.

Also, attending the ball, was her brother-in-law, whom she
recognized at once. Trying to flee, she ran into another
room and another man, Seth Rutledge Lord St. Claire, who was
waiting for Madame Fleur. Seth was not wearing a mask.
She recognized him immediately, although, she had not seen him
in many years. Seth's father purchased his commission, hoping
he would never return home. His brother died, however,
leaving Seth the responsibility for the family. Jane had loved
Seth when they grew up together in the country and she
had not forgotten him. Seth did not know it was Jane behind
the mask. He had taken her for a doxy, yet she was stirring
feelings inside of him that were strange to him.
Seth was instantaneously attracted to Jane and kissed her.
He found himself unable to stop when the door opened and
Madame Fleur entered. Jane was able to flee the room, join her
two friends, and eventually leave the ball.

The subsequent day, Seth and his sister Julianne ran into Jane in the
park, their longtime childhood friend. Julianne was permanently
blinded from a childhood accident their father blamed on
Seth. He carried that burden of guilt heavily. Julianne secretly
in love with one of the servants.

Jane sneaks out again to another Bordello Masquerade Ball
looking for Seth. Seth likewise, attended the Ball hoping to
find the mystery women he was hopelessly attracted to.
Jane and Seth had several sexual encounters before Jane finally
had to confront Seth she was his mysterious lover.

Sophie Jordan portrayed Jane as a sweet and likeable
character who deserved to find love after a loveless
first marriage and being preyed upon by her former-in-laws.
There were times when Seth came across as too rough with
Jane and unworthy of her love. Jane did not reveal her
feelings to Seth until toward the end of the book. Personally,
I would have preferred at an earlier point in the story.
All in all, this book had a happy ending for two people who
finally found the love and happiness they sought. I highly
recommend "One Night With You"

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - 3 Starts
This is my very first Sophie Jordan novel, and I can definitely say that I will be trying another soon. Although the plot was entirely unoriginal and uninspired, the story was touching and rather sweet. The characters managed to stay 'in character' the entire way through, and although that was at times frustrating, I admire an author who can keep her characters straight from the start of a novel to the very last page. Kudos!

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Abrupt Ending...
I liked the story weel enough and was really interested in all the characters, but the end of the story seemed very rushed to me. One second Seth is refusing to love Jane (something he was moderately good at throughout the story) and the subsequent he is telling her he always loved her. ??? Also, nothing bad happens to the bad guys, they get away with treating her like a servant and stealing her money.

Hurumph. On the bright side, this is a veru fast read. I tried to read Nicole Jordan's latest yesterday and couldn't get past page 25 since it was so boring. At least this story was a page-turner.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Ok up to the ending....
I will not rehash the entire plot as it has already been done. What I will say is that the book was well written and interesting all the way up to the last few chapters; at which point it became rushed. It almosted seemed like the authour was running out of pages and just needed to wrap it up. With maybe just 15 or 20 more pages the book could have been so much more developed.
