From the supplier: Methodologies based on material requirements planning (MRP) and linear programming (LP) were proposed as decision support tools for the materials management problem of buying supplies to meet a weather-dependent demand. These tools were applied to the natural gas problem. Application makes possible gross margin increases of 6-10% with the minimum of additional customers and supplies. Total gross margins may also be raised to as high as 45% when MRP and LP are applied with interruptible contracts and new supplies.
