Description:
The home of unspeakable evil is back to torment all who cross its threshold, as Dino De Laurentiis and legendary director Richard Fleischer (Soylent Green) present 'a horror picture of considerable class and polish' (Los Angeles Times)! Packed with bone-chilling special effects, this third rendezvous with terror in Amityville stars Tony Roberts, Tess Harper, Robert Joy, Candy Clark and Meg Ryan. To debunk the Amityville house's infamous reputation and take advantage of a rock-bottom asking price, skeptical journalist John Baxter (Roberts) buys the place and settles in to write his very first novel. But as soon as the ink on the deed has dried, people who have come into contact with him – and the house – begin to meet with a shocking fate. Is it coincidenceÂ...or is this house really the gateway to hell?

This film often resembles Tobe Hooper's "Poltergeist". That movie preceded this one by a year or so, so the "Amityville" filmmakers could have been plagiarizing to a degree. However, Amityville 3-D, despite its flaws, still has enough fuel to forge ahead given that the Amityville story continues to astound the motion picture public.
This movie is mostly noteworthy for the mere fact that it features Meg Ryan in one of her earliest film roles. Otherwise, you have to go beyond the director's cheesy attempts to startle an 80's 3-D viewing public. (The DVD of the film is 3-D in title alone.) It has a few surprises, so it's worth watching if you have a free afternoon. Otherwise, this is largely considered the very first in a long line of unnecessary sequels to the Amityville franchise.

I don't think it was better than the very first 2, but it's still a good movie.
Another thing I didn't know MEG RYAN played in this movie.
It has a pretty good coutinuing story from the 2 before it.
It's just not as scary.
I rate this dvd a 6 from 1to10!!

I don't care how many Amityville Horror movies they make, they are all creepy. To take what was a true story and go from there is an endless list of good ideas for a movie. This one wasn't as well thought out, but with the story of the skeptic becoming a believer is believable enough. A+ movie

Man this movie was pure garbage. Its only worth watching to see how bad it is. I think this director never paid too much attention to the early ones at all. The whole purpose of the house's rage was to drive people out and keep them out. To include all of the characters except for one ruled out common sense. The number one thing I want to point out because god knows this doesn't deserve too much time is this. Why would the house send its curse out doors? It terrorized the new owner while he was on an elevator. It also killed a girl, who earlier ran away from the house and vowed never to go back. It sent its evil presence in the form of an oversized fly to kill the girl in her car. By setting it ablaze. I thought the house wanted people to "GET OUT". She got out and died anyway. Makes no sense. The ending was just as dumb as the whole movie. I'll leave it at that.
It really amazes me that this trash has atleast a single 5 star review. I don't think its possible for me to understand what anybody can see in this trash. Its only worth getting if you want to complete your collection. I say just rent it. But if its cheaper to buy it then do that.

After the Horrid and sicking Second movie, Dino De Laurentiis bought the rights to the story and set about to work his magic on it. Mr. De Laurentiis had done "STUNING" things with his train wreck films "King Kong", "Orca", and later "STUNNERS" like "Dune" and "King Kong Lives" so who better to do a sequel than him.
With nothing like a story or plot to get in the way, the scares come like free money..... almost never!!!
after this the series set dormant for almost 6 years!!! Yes, it's that bad!!!!!
