Editor's Notes and Comments:

Description:
Have yourself a very merry MuppetÂ? Christmas with this all-new holiday movie starring KermitÂ? the Frog, Miss PiggyÂ? and the whole MuppetÂ? gang Â? plus a celebrity cast featuring David Arquette, Joan Cusack and Whoopi Goldberg, with cameos by Matthew Lillard, William H. Macy, Carson Daly, Kelly Ripa, Joe Rogan, Molly Shannon and the cast of 'Scrubs'! 'Tis the night before Christmas and the Muppet Theater is in danger of being torn down. And when bad goes to worse, Kermit begins to believe the world would be a better place if he'd never been born. But don't worry! With heavenly help and hilarious send-ups of just about every holiday movie ever made, Kermit and the Muppets discover what matters most is their love for each other.Featuring show-stopping musical numbers like 'Moulin Scrooge!' (starring Miss Piggy as 'Saltine'), this 'charming and clever' (The San Diego Union-Tribune) holiday classic will have the whole family laughing!

Amazon.com:
Kermit takes center stage in this hilarious, parody-laden celebration of Muppetry, pulsating with original music, a star-studded cast of human cameos, and a heartwarming story reminiscent of It's a Wonderful Life. Joan Cusack plays the deliciously villainous Miss Bitterman, a ruthless banker who succeeds in foreclosing on the Muppet Theatre only days before Kermit's Christmas extravaganza. As Kermit loses his livelihood, he plunges into the 'I wish I'd never been born' mind-set instantly recognizable to George Bailey fans. It's going to take some Divine intervention (Whoopi Goldberg is cast as God, no less), plus a little help from a heavenly 'Clarence.' Despite some moments where the script seems adrift (how hard it must be to live up to the irresistible precedent set by the 1979 premier Muppet Movie) and some humour that borders on risqué, Fozzie and the gang are in fine form. The message is sweet: dreams are as vital to life as loyal friendships are to see them through. (Ages 5 and older) --Lynn Gibson

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - A Very Miserable Muppet Christmas
I am a big fan of the Muppet Family (Sesame, Fraggles, thee Muppets, Labyrinth, etc.)and so it is without hesitation that I write this review to say this Muppet release is best to be forgotten. Some have been pleased with the newer Muppet releases (Muppet Christ Carol, Muppets From Space) and disappointed (Muppet Treasure Island)... but this release is beyond disappointment or simply a bad movie.

It's simply inappropriate for a Muppet film.

Fozzie is a pick-pocket, which is sort of funny, but it goes downhill from there. Kermit is furious at everyone and apparently suicidal (screaming "I wish I was never born!" over... and over... and over again...). Miss Piggy is a Call Girl Operator. Peppe gets a permit to open a topless nightclub... and Scooter is an S&M cage dancer. No joke.

Forget about this one.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Not Child Friendly
This is probably my own fault, as I don't remember the muppets being so incredibly unfamily friendly. I was appalled at the references to sex as well as language such as "lets beat him up", and a fight scene between the movie's "villian" and Ms. Piggy. Even from an adult perspective, the jokes were not funny and somewhat offensive. The role they give to Whoopi as "the boss" (aka God) was very offensive towards the Christian belief of God. I would not recommend this movie to anyone.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Disappointing
Our family loves all the Muppet movies. However, this one was kind of disappointing. Whoopi Goldberg plays God and agrees to send an angel to help Kermit. Concepts went over the kids heads, movie was sometimes questionable for our family values, and kids got bored. We recommend The Muppets Christmas Carol instead. That is a family favorite!!

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - an inappropriate disappointment
As an elementary school teacher, mother of a five year old and Muppet fan, I was very disappointed in this movie. "It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas" is not appropriate for children. The references to sex, alcohol abuse and strip clubs may be amusing to some adults, but those topics, (even when explored by the well-loved Henson creations), are not appropriate for kids. Jim Henson didn't have to sink to tawdry jokes to delight his audiences. His creativity and silliness were what made his characters funny and loveable for all ages. Do your child a favor and skip this movie.

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Sadly Offensive
I too would give this movie a "zero" if I could. I was so saddened to see that even the Muppets are no longer sacred. There was nothing charming about this movie. The sexual innuendo was so offensive I almost turned it off, but I kept hoping it would get better. Clearly whoever wrote this doesn't know who the Muppets really are. I would NEVER let my children watch this movie. My gosh, have we really sunk this far when we can't even let our kids watch the Muppets?
