I have always found self-helpers sinister and I knew real estate agents were false-faced agents of change for short-term gain and long-term loss. Claudia Hart neatly entwines the two in this classic tale of God's little helper, the one who went wrong, gone to earth to guide humanity to find material gain and spiritual loss.
Faustie is a pink bear in the style of a classic "Teddy"; while the devil is represented in the guise of purple puppy.
Smart children will relish the pretty pictures and will appreciate the stylish shift when the Faustian bear takes the big plunge into the real estate market. He suddenly needs to cloth his fur in business attire to suit his uniform surroundings.
In this telling the story retains a happy ending in a nearly ruined world.
This book should be re-published. It was written at the end of, and is in part in response to the Reagan era, which we can now, sadly, reflect on as only the beginning of the big deceit of the populace that has brought hell closer to earth.
I would send kudos to Claudia Hart, but she might be suspicious.

Based loosely on Goethe's Faust this is an ironic look, in verse, at the seductive world of becoming a real estate developer, and a "how to" guide of seducing people into buying real estate in, what Dr.Faustie calls, "superburbia". The quote on the cover of the book is: "Meanwhile I have come to the conclusion that it's not love I need, but money. Excuse me, I have to make a phone call." 10 years old, the book doesn't seem to have aged at all, especially when seen in the context of today's real estate boom. I love the drawings (originally paintings, I understand from Hart's website) and wacky text, a real treat!

This book is some sort of childrens/philosophy cartoon book and is by no means about real estate development.
