Mr. Hyde, with the help of Frankenstein, the wolfmen, and Dracula, has a plan to unleash the Dark Gods into our world. Our only hope rest in a few scantly clad babes -- it is lamer than it sounds.
Strictly a vehicle to showcase Top Cow's T&A heroes (Tomb Raider, Witchblade, and Magdalena); any monster fan will surely be disappointed.

Monster War collects the four issue mini series originally published by Top Cow but now in trade paperback under both the Top Cow and Dynamite Entertainment banners. The book teams four of Top Cows main characters Magdalena, Witchblade, The Darkness, and Lara Croft, Tomb Raider together against the dark forces of Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Wolf-Men, and Mr. Hyde.
Being a fan of the old Universal Horror films I was drawn to the title even though I know that these characters only similarity to those classic monsters was in name only. Mr. Hyde turns out to be the mastermind, separated into a fully dark being from his other half, Dr. Jekyll. Hyde has brought Dracula back to life and using the Frankenstein's Monster, he creates a deadly virus, carried by women that Dracula has turned into vampires. This virus will cause the affected to split into two beings, one passive and meek, and the other evil and vicious. His intent is no less than eliminating the entire human race, while opening a gateway to summon in the Elder Gods to take their rightful place again as rulers.
This last plot device is a rather weak endeavor to mix in some Lovecraftian-style horror. It was unneeded and clumsily developed, seemingly as an after thought by writer Christopher Golden. Golden has written some great stuff over the years but Monster War is not one of them. Monster War is yet another Top Cow/Image type comic that goes for glitz and scantily clad women over anything remotely resembling a substantial story.
The art is ok, but it's nothing that stands out from the pack these days. It's basically one splash page after another with big guns, [...] and a story more lifeless than it's villains.
