Editor's Notes and Comments:

Brief Book Summary:
The very first two books in the Hunters series combined in one paperback release!

Declan and Tori:

She was just doing her job, tracking down a nutcase who was stalking a young dancer. And then the unspeakable and impossible happened. She was bitten.

A newly turned vampire, Tori is alone and starving and she doesn't know what to do. But she knows who to turn to—gorgeous, mouthwatering Declan—a police detective who has a few secrets of his own.

Eli And Sarel:

After three long centuries of aching loneliness, Elijah Crawford, Hunter of the Council, has finally found a woman. Maybe she can replace the obsession he has for Torrance Reilly, the wife and lover of his best friend.

Sarel is a lean, red-haired, wild-eyed witch with a soul to match his. She has a thirst for justice, and a yearning for a love to fill the void inside her. Sarel has been searching for Elijah. She is here now, prowling his grounds, waiting to get into his house.

Sarel has come to kill him.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - The Beginning
This book is great. Its hot, lots of sex and I am not going to beat around the bush about that. However, it is pure erotica, not porn like some reviewers wrote. Believe me I know the difference; I have read some of those, Black Lace anyone?

This book contains the very first two stories of the Hunters, Declan and Tori (Shape shifter and Vampire) and Eli and Sarel (Vampire/Witch). It is a fantasy but it is very well written and you can relate very easily to all the characters. This is a keeper for me and I will be checking out the rest of these series.

I have just one thing to add here, people should really read the label before buying the product. There is no sense at all in anyone buying a book that clearly says erotica and then trashing it just because it delivers.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome!! Very sexy!!
This is a great start to this series!! Can't wait for the rest of this series by Shiloh Walker. Spine tingling!! Very sexy!!

Rated by buyers 1 out of 5 stars - Boring after a while...
I began to read this book and liked it, but after some pages I began to grow bored because it always was the same: sex, sex and more sex. Ok, I'm not a prude, and I like a book that has hot scenes on it, but usually I prefer my books to have a story and sex on it, but always leaning on a story that keeps you interested in the book. In this book I got the impression that the story wasn't important as soon as they were having sex. As I said, I like a book with a story and sex, not sex as a story.

Sorry, but after reading the very first story and beginning the second one, I couldn't keep reading because the second story on the book hinted to be exactly as the very first one: all sex with some second or third thought to an idea of a story that should keep all the sex tied up. I mean, that had to have all the story tied up. This book felt very much as a porn movie: after some time it all seems the same. Not a keeper for me.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Not Free SF Reader
Ok, this is porn. Or, erotic romance as the publisher seems to call it. When you look them up, you will see that all becomes clear.

A cop and a guy are dancing around each other, but the bloke is a werewolf. The girl gets vampirised before he can stop it, and the circumstances surrounding her very first feeding (him) and other things means she becomes some legendary mythological Huntress.

Super supernatural, and super hornbag. Seems the werewolves are pretty much like that already.

Given this is not porn reader, we will rate it as such.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Capable author, poor showing.
This book shows that its author is quite talented. She does a capable (though not much more), job writing sizzle, and she's good with plot and characterization. HOWEVER--shouldn't there be a little romance in a romance?

Although I'm not a fan of the pink rosette, I usually just skip over those scenes and look at the rest of the book, because that's where this genre seems to be going. But--no pun intended--if you skip those scenes in this book, there's not much left to read. Can we say DIVERSITY?

Also, although the writer does a great job of building empathy for her characters, she does very little work when it comes to SHOWING (as opposed to TELLING) their connections to one another. I couldn't get over the feeling that the depth of these characters' connections to each other could be measured by the length of the nearest p*nis. (And, regardless of size, they only reach SOOOO far!*G*)

I was fairly impressed by the book other than these things; unfortunately, for me, they were just too much to overcome. I felt I was reading about two (or was it three? or four?) semi-intense affairs, rather than love stories. I prefer to read stories where the sex is an outcome of real emotion, not just a 'scratch-that-itch-for-me' thing. (Me Tarzan; you blow-up-Jane. Or vice versa. Yuk.)

And I enjoy reading LK Hamilton's books very much. Yes, there's a lot of sex, and even a rosette here and there. But Hamilton manages to establish an emotional tie between the characters, even if it's that of a caring friendship rather than 'love 4ever'. For me all that passion needs to have a purpose--other than letting the author deposit a check in the bank.

And the actions of these characters were just not consistent with how caring people act, in my opinion. (I couldn't even see why they'd be good FRIENDS at all. Nothing drew them together, other than sex.) In fact, there was something about the very first story especially which kind of gave me the creeps. Wish I could pinpoint it, but the best I can do is to say it had something to do with the relationship dynamics between the characters.

For these reasons, despite the things this book clearly has going for it, I just couldn't get into it. I had really looked forward to reading it, and planned to buy the entire series if I liked this book. Plan cancelled.

If you don't mind these things, you'll probably like the book. Myself, I couldn't get past them. Two stars because the writer has obvious talent. If we could just get her to fall in love with her characters a bit, maybe we could too?
