Product Description:
Listen up, guys: If you think yoga is just for earthy-crunchy New Agers, think again! Three-time World Champion Wrestler Diamond Dallas Page one of the biggest superstars in professional wrestling is here to prove that yoga is for regular guys, too.
Chock-full of smartass humour and a whole lot of attitude, Yoga for Regular Guys is an illustrated fitness program that men can relate to because Dallas understands the things men care about: improved strength and endurance, a better sex life, reduced stress levels, and (maybe most importantly) acess to ridiculously hot yoga babes. Every chapter offers clear, step-by-step explanations of yoga poses and circuits along with hilarious full-colour photos of 'regular guys' in action.
Written in conjunction with Dr. Craig Aaron an athletic trainer for numerous members of the NFL, NBA, and World Wrestling Entertainment Yoga for Regular Guys is a comprehensive fitness program that's fun, irreverent, and empowering. So what are you waiting for?

My wife was really trying to get me to start yoga and figured that a forward by my favorite rocker and movie director, Rob Zombie, would be the ticket to get me to open it up. I also went to the yoga studio a few times and tried the real deal.
This book provides very good background information and extolls the virtues of yoga as a complete exercise routine. Yes, you really can get a cardio workout form yoga if you do it right. Take it from Rob and Diamond Dallas and try yoga. Start with this book so that you know what to expect and how to act and you will be all set.

I concur with Mojo's review and thanks for the tweak. You should post them on YRG's website too. A book with DVD combination would have been great.

I agree this book provides a great Yoga workout, especially for a Yoga novice like myself. As with other reviews, my only criticism is that you do have to flip some pages to follow the workout.
After each of the movements are explained, there is a section where you put it all together, with images that chronologically outline a 20-minute workout, along with a section for additional exercises to turn it into a 30-minute workout, and a section for more exercises that make it a 45-minute workout.
The problem in looking at the routines is that there are no reminders as to whether to inhale or exhale, or how many breaths to take while holding each pose. My solution was to write that info in under each picture for easy reference. On those poses where I inhale, I put an arrow pointing up. For an exhale, I use an arrow pointing down. If the book instructs me to hold a pose while breathing in and out three times, I wrote in an "up" arrow, then the number three, then a "down" arrow.
I also made a visual note (a thick vertical line) in the 20-minute routine to indicate where I need to flip over to the add-on exercises to make it a 30-minute routine. Then, it's just a matter of inserting a bookmark or folding down a page corner to find the 30-minute add-ons without breaking your workout flow.
With these slight tweaks, I find this to be the perfect workout to do when I'm traveling. You can do it in a hotel room (even a small one) and get a great workout without having to find a gym or rely on the workout facilities (or lack thereof) at the hotel.

This is a great workout. You are able to get cardio, strength and stretching all at one time! I've been doing it everyday and sometimes twice a day with no soreness, in fact the more I do it the better I feel.

Having really enjoyed Rodney Yee and Kristin McGee's power yoga routines, I was curious about what this program could add, so I bought the book, read it, then got the DVDs to do the program. It adds emphasis on the upper body with long, slow push-ups, and on the thighs with squats--watch out for your back on these! The book's presentation of the program makes it a bit difficult to use while doing the workout because of the need to turn pages as well as the lack of breathing instructions (when to inhale or exhale), but a little practice will help you learn that.
I'd prefer the accepted yoga names for the poses--in English--to Page's made-up ones, since I began with Yee and McGee and sometimes have to remind myself that "Can-opener" is the traditional "Pigeon," for instance. Again, with time, I got used to it, particularly when using the DVD, which I'd recommend if you're serious about doing this workout regularly.
