"Hatchet Job", even the title of the book brings up images of roughshod work with nasty edges, pieces that don't fit, and a hurried, frenetic effort to get a job done. This book, however is anything but that.
Yeah, there's lots of blood shed, battles, aliens, cool looking spacecraft, and a mess of personal problems. The new Fear Agents are sent out from Earth on two desperate missions, one to Neavsivia, and one to Kipferi. Their mission: to cleanse the earth of Feeder aliens, and to locate new home for humanity. Even in space, revenge is a dish best served cold. Mara, finds Levi Diablo and her quest for revenge is near complete. Heath and Keith settle their differences in a death duel during the Tetaldian games. The galactic chess game moves from the past to the present. Past sins hurdle time and collide in a tense, final confrontation. Personal and private pains explode.
Wow! Remeder, Opena , and Dwyer have contructed an amazing space fantasy that blasts off where Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Dan Dare, and the Empire left off. Galactic intrigue, personal conflicts, and a strong sense that no matter how far we go out there, we take ALL of our flaws with us. This is a space drama of the most extreme that reeks with characterization and tension.
I love the outstanding art job by Jerome Opena and Kieron Dwyer. They handle the wide variety of scenes with even dexterity and gusto. A passion for their craft is easily obvious and appreciated.
Fear Agent is far out!
