Editor's Notes and Comments:
Product Description:
Written by researchers who have helped to found and shape the field, this book is a definitive introduction to geometric modeling. The authors present a broad base of fundamentally important techniques for curve and surface representations in computer-aided modeling with a focus on how the techniques can be used in design. In achieving a balance between mathematical rigour and broad applicability, they show how theoretical properties can be harnessed to drive practical algorithms, how a somewhat more abstract treatment can occasionally provide unifying elegance and implementational advantage.

This book is quite helpful in understanding the theory behind splines as well as algorithms that can be easily coded up. Multiple variants of spline algorithms are discussed and analyzed quite thoroughly. The book is, however, racked with many errors making it unsuitible for teaching yourself the material. Also the authors seemed to create the own notations that are quite different than those presented by others such as Gallier and deBoor. They also assume that you have a firm understanding in vector calculus and linear algebra. All in all, not a bad book assuming descent mathematical background and the extensive erratta sheet that I'm sure someone has compiled.
