While i am not sure i would have picked up this book and established the discipline on my own, but i am still stunned by the negative reviews.
The problem with people who do not have decent discipline is that it is not easy that they can just read a book and establish it - was that counter intuitive or what? ..lol. I am telling with my own personal experience. But please do not bash a guy who already reached a level that we are still dreaming to attain.
Because i am right now working personally with him.
In the last 27 days since i met him i worked out 23 times, did 18 hrs cardio for 19475 calories burn. 2 days back i worked out 3 hrs straight cardio - very first time in my life. I was in bad shape since a year eating bad food and not working out. But in 27 days i feel leaner, i am close to control what i eat.
Harris is amazing in instilling in you that failure and not meeting your goal is NOT an option. And once you start doing that for a week or two, you get psyched up yourself.
He made me realize how important discipline is. Without this forget about everything else - having belief, having passion, having great intentions etc are great and you should have it, but the rubber meets the road ONLY with discipline. I love his hardcore attitude.
So i would advise you to read the book, and embody what he says for at least week or two and you will be on a roll. Or else simply call him and get coached if you have a distractive mind.
I have also read numerous books and been to self-help seminars etc. They are all awesome but the reason you move from one book to another looking for some other thing that can elevate our standard is because we LACK discipline.
And Harris just attacks that single most important problem.

After reading through this book, it seems that the essential quality for being a highly disciplined person is a willingness to always make productive use of time. For me, this is the main idea in the book. To forge a new relationship with time.

The book is not well written in terms of sentence structure and grammar, and is loaded with typos such as "you're happiness" etc. Such errors often got in the way of my ability to appreciate the material. The whole book reads like a very first draft that was thrown together in a few weeks. With these qualifiers, I'd still say that I enjoyed reading this book. It's a raw, loosely edited outpouring of enthusiasm for a life lived with motivation and discipline. If you don't get caught up in the poorly written aspects, it's possible to get swept up in this enthusiasm.

This is the very first book that I have ever returned to Amazon, because of the content not meeting my expectations. It wasn't helpful and offered unrealistic solutions

I am absolutely SHOCKED at how many positive reviews this book has received! It just goes to show you that Amazon cannot be fully trusted. These reviews are FAKE! I've bought the book, started reading it, but it was so bad that I just couldn't finish it.
A little about some of the books I've read on this subject, "Kiss Guide To Organizing Your Life", "The Now Habit", "Getting Things Done" by Allen, "Attitude Is Everything", "Total Self Discipline In Ten Days", "Time Management For Dummies", and another time management book that I can't remember the title to.
Of all of these books that I've read, this one is the absolute WORST! The best one's were "KISS Guide To Organizing Your LIfe", "The Now Habit" and "Getting Things Done". In that order.
Another book that was bad, but not as bad as this one, was "Total Self Discipline In Ten Days". I read it and really tried what it said and it just didn't work. "Attitude Is Everything" was also one of those books that was so nonsensical and full of self help fluff (the universe loves you ...) type nonsense that I couldn't finish that one as well.

Do not buy this book. It is written poorly and is loaded with useless anecdotes and virtually no information on how to practically apply what they preach. It reads like a cheap magazine article. The author "Harris" is very full of himself and his co-author has been duped into believing he is some kind of mentoring god. From what I gather, Harris is a pusher. He basically tells you to work more, sleep less, and read while you go to the bathroom. What silly, adolescent advice. Harris is your typical A type personality that is clueless about what focusing on a task and focusing on details is all about. The authors multi-task, do-it all, don't ever rest mentality is freightening. By his own admission he is never satisfied, and you shouldn't be either. Always chasing the horizon, but will never get there. Meanwhile he probably doesn't realize the things he's missing or the people he's run over in his pursiut of his self-absorbed desire to always get more. People can't and shouldn't live like this. The fact that he's divorced and has a child that he sees only a few times a month (apparantly because he's more absorbed in himself and his half a million mile travels that he takes each month)speaks volumes about the quality of his personal life.

Save your money. Do not buy this book. I am so sorry that I was duped into wasting money on it.
