OK, many have complained that this book is not "up to date" and they are completely correct! However, that was never the point in re-printing this book. This book is for all of us bat-fans who remember it from the 70's and have had a hell of a time trying to find it again since it has been out of print for decades.
One thing to remember is that when this book was published in 1976 it was already 10 years out of date! The bat-history contained within stops at 1965 and that means no Man-Bat, no Ra's Al Ghul or anything else that has happened since 1966 onward.
The information that is included is VERY complete. There is just about EVERYTHING from Batman's golden age and part of the silver age with an alphabetical listing of all things Batman. Ever wonder what was in Batman and Robin's utility belts? Wonder no more, you can find out here (with pictures no less). Those wanting a more general overview of the caped crusader may be better off with Batman: The Ultimate Guide to the Dark Knight

I have an original copy of this great bok. I bought a used copy off of Amazon
about a year or two ago.I very first read this book as a kid many, many years ago.
As a kid this book was a lot of fun to read. It still is. It covers more about Batman than any book out there. You will learn everything you would like to know about the Darknight Detective (From his beginings up until the 70's). I happened to see the book at my local bookstore last week. I was really happy to see that they have reprinted it for newer generations. I was tempted to buy myself a copy but I am happy with my used one. I think I will buy one for my nephew who is also a Batman fan.
So if you want to know about how Batman learn to throw the batarang, if you want to read about the two Batgirls and Batwoman. if you want to read about Alfred's time as a vilian who vexed Batman and Robin, if you want the low down on Bat-villians and Bat-friends...and if you just want to sit down, relax and enjoy reading the legend and lore of one of comic-doms greatest heroes then this book is for you.
DC has also reprinted the Superman and Wonderwoman encyclopedias (original copies which I also own). I recommend them also.
Fun stuff.
Buy and enjoy!
