Product Description:
What you need to know about mold and mold toxin before: Purchasing Real Estate; Starting Mold Remediation, or; Submitting a Mold Insurance Claim. Written by Dr. Gary Rosen, one of the country's leading authorities on mold testing and remediation, this is the very first complete home owner's/home buyer's guide to dealing with mold and mold toxin remediation. Clearly and concisely, Dr. Rosen acquaints readers with the latest findings about mold infestation and arms them with everything they need to know to: 1. Restore a home to 'good as new' healthy condition; 2. Submit a successful mold claim to insurance providers so they and not you pay for the work. Significant emphasis is placed on how to correctly 'do it yourself' for small to medium size jobs. And for larger jobs, what to look for in a mold contractor; and what you need to know to make sure the job is done right. If your mold remediation contractor does not follow industry standard EPA & OSHA remediation guidelines... watch out. They may leave your home contaminated with mold. Other books by Dr. Rosen available include: When Traditional Medicine Fails: Your Guide to Mold Toxins; and Locating Hidden Toxic Mold.

I picked up this book and one of "Dr" Rosen's other books on mold while doing some research on mold and mold remediation. I was absolutely amazed that someone actually published the other book and then I read this one which is even worse.
At best, this text is an assembly of basic, sometimes misleading, sometimes incorrect and many times oversimplified approached to mold and the remediation thereof. At worst, this book is nothing more than worthless self promotion designed to convince the reader that they really are too stupid to do this work themselves and need expert guidance from Rosen's company or his other books.
I found it interesting to note that all of the 5 star recommendations for this book come from people that have reviewed nothing else, have reviewed ONLY Rosen's books or have written other books WITH Rosen. I guess Amazon wouldn't let Rosen write his OWN review.
The recommendations, like the book, are a complete joke.
Better information available for free on the internet - the very first key is to avoid anyone that uses the terms "toxin" or "toxic mold" when discussing real mold issues.

I think it is hilarious that the only books the other reviewers seem to have read are all by this author. What a joke.

I am a Certified Microbial Consultant (mold inspector) and a board member of the American Indoor Air Quality Council. The authors of this book (and similar titled books they have written) asked the director of our organization if the book could be admitted as a required text for those studying to take the exam to become certified mold inspectors. The majority voted not to accept it. This was based simply on the fact that the board is quite technical in nature. The mere word toxic (instead of toxigenic) is enough to make the academics not approve.
I personally found a lot of the information in the book interesting and well presented. I would buy it if I didn't already own just about every other book written on mold and have years of experience with it.
A good, comprehensive book for those who need to know about mold.

I could not get my insurance company to pay anything to fix my mold problem. They said it was not covered. After reading Mold & Mold Toxin Remediation's chapter on insurance claims I resubmitted my claim and received the exact amount needed to do the work. It is all quite simple when you know what to do.
