Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Lacklustre
The cover looked intriguing and the original House of M run was dark, poignant, and gripping stuff. This chapter by Christos Gage however, really doesn't cut it. It took me a while to plough through this uninspiring, somewhat dull and b-grade episode of the Avengers. Here's the problem: if you like Luke Cage (and I do), then this may be a book for you. The book is more like Power Man and the rag tag Avengers - an assortment of heroes that has less to do with the Avengers than Cage's world: Iron Fist, Misty Knight, Moon Knight, Tigra and yes, one Avenger of note: Hawkeye. But the characterisations are exceedingly weak, making this a one-note deal. We've seen better before. Throw in Thunderbird from the old X-men days, a meek Punisher, and the Sons of the Tiger, the Blob and Taskmaster, and we have B-grade Marvel vigilantes and villains holding the fort. Not a pretty sight.

The colors of the comic are dark and drab - intentional no doubt, but dull nonetheless, and the artwork by Mike Perkins really doesn't cut it. They really should forget about the House of M plotline if this is the best they can do! Sophmoric stuff. Go back to Brian Michael Bendis's Avengers. Much better.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - House of M: Avengers
For long time Marvel fans this is quite a treat. Set in the alternate Magneto-controlled reality of the House of M storyline, House of M: Avengers provides a deep retelling of the origins of the Earth's mightiest champions.
This time around though, instead of classic A-listers like Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America, the story focuses on the good that less tradition characters can accomplish. Led by Luke Cage, this rag tag team comprised of many lesser known but equally heroic characters inspires humanity to stand up against their mutant overlords.
Great writing and artwork throughout will keep you from putting this book down until you've read it cover to cover.
