Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - And this is where it starts to go downhill
I originally liked this series. I really did. I very first picked up the original Deadpool series (this was after Fabian's mini-series work and Deadpool's appearances in X-force)and loved it. Fabian started out ok with this series, the very first few TPB's are worth picking up. But it's about here when he stops caring about all the character development and changes to the character of Deadpool that I become annoyed with this series. The author seems to believe something along the lines of 'well i created him, so I can do whatever to him I want" and ignores the limited history developed by this character. Ignores the changes and growth he's endured and taken in as the series progressed. He also replaces most of deadpool's random fun and one line quips into political commentary of the left wing variety. I personally believe both sides are screwed up and he should've been bashing both sides. Instead the author takes an almost extreme leftist view and bashes anything that relates to the 'right'. Using a comic book of all things to express YOUR point of view is a bit much in a big name publisher's game like Marvel's. Maybe if the book was in an indy print or something. But it just goes to show the author decided 'i created this guy I can do what I want, no interference, no consideration to the MANY authors who helped create more to the mythos of this character after I created the character". In essence, deadpool becomes a tool, and of little comedic value. Too bad Joe Kelly is DC exclusive now. HE knew how to write deadpool as someone with deep rooted issues AND make him understandable and lovable.
