I took a trip to Charleston on a short notice and picked up this book before I went- Broken down into useful sections of Charleston for places to see and eat and easy to find information.

We bought this book when we moved to Charleston. Extremely helpful. It took us two years to go through and experience the book, and even then we didn't get through it all. Very helpful book for both visitors and new residents.

I've been to Charleston and Kiawah Island once this year (2005) and only wish I had this book then. Will bring it with me when I go back to that area in 2006. It gives just the right amount of information on the things a visitor needs to know: places to stay, eat, shop. Plus info for people planning to relocate: neighborhoods, real estate, education, healthcare.

I am planning a trip and maybe even a move to Charleston this year. I went to the bookstore wanting to find some simple information on Charleston. This book made me fall in love with the city of Charleston. It has more information that the average restaurants, lodging, things to do. It highlights things you may find out from talking to a long time resident who loves their hometown. I can't wait to go. I highy recommend this almanac/friend/looking glass of a book.

This is not a top-notch travel book. The information was not in-depth or interesting. It seemed to be like a book one might get at a travel agency free (it even had advertisements). I would not recommend this book.
