What a pleasant surprise "Italian Stallions" was. This book contains two connected stories by two different authors. Each story has a different 'feel' to it, but I must confess Jami Alden's story had me teary-eyed.
"In His Bed" by Karin Tabke. Gianna just buried her father and her mother disappeared years ago. When she's approached by a slimy ganster to 'settle her father's debts', she scared and pissed. Her cousin insists she needs attitude...and to dump her 'Madonna' nickname and image. Gianna goes a bit further than she or her cousin intended!
Gabriel is working undercover. When Gianna becomes tangled up in his investigation, he just can't quite manage to keep his hands, or mouth, off her.
"Will That Be All?" by Jami Alden. Theresa has come home. She finally wised up and left her drug-addicted, abusive boyfriend in New York. Now she's determined to turn her life around and regain the respect she lost for herself. When a gorgeous gazillionaire hires her to be his dog nanny, she's determined to fight their attraction with all her might. Because he could never forgive the things she did to survive in NY...could he?
This is probably the best Aphrodisia book I've read. Both stories, but especially Alden's, have meaning beyond 'insert tab A in slot B'. Definitely worth the read.

"In His Bed" by Karin Tabke. In San Francisco, following the death of her father reticent Gianna "Gia" Cipriani feels her shyness is allowing life to pass her by. She decides to change her image and go after hunks rather than pray Prince Charming finally arrives. She chooses Gabe LaMotta as her very first subject. However, he is an undercover FBI agent investigating her father's death and quickly realizes he needs to go under the cover with Gia permanently but very first wants her help on what he believes was a mob hit on her dad.
"Will That Be All?" by Jami Alden. Gia's cousin Theresa returns to San Francisco knowing she will receive scorn and I told you so from her family. She obtains work as a waitress at Gia's neighborhood Italian restaurant Ciao Bella where hedge fund millionaire Vince Mattera dines frequently. They lust after a breast encounter that soon turns to love, but neither is ready for a relationship beyond a tryst or two; yet neither can resist one more sexual fling after another.
Both tales are well written erotic romances. The title characters are engaging and the angst laden Theresa is well rounded. However, Gia seems out of character when she turns from a good girl into an obtuse reprobate. Still these are two hot novellas.

Italian Stallions consists of 2 stories that are slightly related in the sense that they have heroines that are related - Gianna Cipriani is in Karin Tabke's tale and her cousin Theresa Bellessi is in Jami Alden's story. While the characters are mentioned in both stories, you don't need to read them in order to enjoy the book.
In His Bed - 4 stars
Gabe LaMotta is an undercover FBI agent trying to bring down Don "Juan" Fabio. Alberto "Cappy" Cipriani has recently died and his daughter Gianna now owns the family restaurant. The cops believe that Don Juan had something to do with Cappy's death and are now watching Gianna to see if they can get any information that will help them put Don Juan away.
Gianna has always been a good girl. At 27, she's led a sheltered life - thanks to her father who made sure she remained untouched. Now that her father is gone, she's ready to let go. Don Juan is a little too interested in her and after a meeting in the seedier side of town with him, she steps into a bar and meets Gabe. Gabe has followed her here to this seedy bar and can't resist her. He's torn between his attraction to Gianna and his duty as a cop.
This story is very similar in style to other books by Karin Tabke - steamy sex, tough cop, although can be unlikeable at times. It's well written and enjoyable, though Don Juan's interest in Gianna seemed a tad far fetched.
Will That Be All? - 5 stars
Theresa Bellessi has moved back home to San Francisco after a disastrous relationship. She's working as a waitress at her cousin Gianna's restaurant when she accidentally spills drinks on Vince Mattera - a regular at the restaurant. Vince takes the spill in stride - he's in the middle of breaking up with his girlfriend when it happened and heck, it wasn't Theresa's fault.
Talking to Theresa at his subsequent visit at the restaurat, Vince realizes that he's attracted to Theresa. On top of that, she's looking for a place to live and he needs someone to help him with his dog. What better than to offer Theresa a place to live in exchange for help with his dog?
Of course, the platonic arrangement doesn't last long but heck, it's just rebound sex for both of them right? Well, maybe not as each of them fights their feelings for the other.
What can I say - I loved this story. I loved Vince - sexy as they come and fighting his feelings for Theresa. I loved the transformation of Vince from cool guy who stays uninvolved to a man crazy in love. A great read.
