Kay Arthur offers readers a study of prayer. I've read that it takes 28 days for anything to become a habit. In her latest study, Lord, Teach Me To Pray in 28 Days, Arthur uses that adage to teach us to pray and for us to get into the habit of praying. Her focus is on the Lord's Prayer. She takes it one phrase at a time and discusses it. Arthur never writes over the readers' heads. She presents her message in a clear, easy-to-understand manner. Lord, Teach Me To Pray in 28 Days is an excellent study guide. It could successfully be used for individual or small group study.

Kay Arthur uses the Lord's Prayer to teach you how to create your own prayer. The step by step lessons are easy and fast. If you have only 10 minutes per day this will work for you. Thought provoking comments.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Bible Study of Prayer
I purchased this book to use with my weekly bible study group. We all felt in one way or another each of us needed help in this area of our walk with God. Kay Arthur is an excellent writer, and all 21 of us have enjoyed the lessons. Each week we glean something new from the lesson and our discusion that follows. I would highly recommend this study for others. I have gotten more out of it in discusion with my group of ladies, but it would be good just on its own also.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - "Right up there with 'God, Help me Pray!', but they are totally different books on the subject"

Hmmm...Perhaps I was hoping for a more complete instruction guide on prayer, or maybe discusion on all the scriptural aspects of prayer. I love Kay, and this is a good book, but for me--it's a bit narrow in scope.

She takes the Lord's Prayer (so-called--John 17 is the real Lord's Prayer!), and dissects it nicely. But that prayer is too brief to cover every aspect of the subject.

I found "God, Help Me Pray!" (hard to locate) to be much more thorough and even a quicker read. This author does not 'hold your hand' like Kay does though.

Depending on what you're looking for, Kay's book, or the other one, will teach you about praying. I wanted a more complete discusion of every aspect of prayer and did not really need the hand-holding, so I prefer "God, Help Me Pray!", but both should be at the top of your short list.
