Product Description:
At Hog Wallow Middle School, May Ellen Bird was always slightly invisible. Then she went on a long trip to the land of the dead, where ghost towns glowed blue in the dark dusk and spooky specters dwelled in cities on the Dead Sea.

Back on Earth at last, May and her hairless cat, Somber Kitty, are now famous, their faces plastered across souvenirs and sportswear that read 'May Bird Went to the Land of the Dead and All She Brought Me Was This Lousy T-Shirt.' But, finally in the spotlight, May feels more than ever that she doesn't belong. Every night she sits by her bedroom window, gazing at the sky and dreaming of another place, wishing -- despite herself -- to be back among the ghosts.

And then one night she gets her heart's desire in a way she would never have wished for. Only the Ever After isn't anything like the world May left behind three years ago. The spirits have vanished, and the towns -- once full of every manner of things that go bump in the night -- are deserted. Evil Bo Cleevil has made the Ever After as cold as his own frigid soul, and put up a bunch of tacky malls to boot.

Now, with her friends missing and enemies all around her, May must find her way to the edge of the universe, where night swallows the stars, where allies are few and often have bad breath, where endings can also be beginnings, and where the truest hero lurks in the unlikeliest of souls. But Bo Cleevil's got one last trick up his sleeve -- one that no one on Earth is ready for.

With the worlds of the living and the dead in the balance, will May's courage fail her one last time? Or will she finally become the warrior she was always meant to be?

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - My daughter is hooked!
This series got my daughter hooked on reading. She's a 3rd grader and, up until now, only read because she had to. Now she's devouring all kinds of books. Thank you, May Bird!

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - May Bird Fan...but Slightly Disappointed with the 3rd and Final book
I had picked up the very first two books at a scholastic book fair because I was intrigued by their outside title covers and I wanted some books other then Newbury or Caldecott to review for my child lit class. I LOVED both the very first and second book, they were just so filled with imagination and wonderful descriptions of the Ever After. They were interesting and I'm 21 years old but fell in love with May Bird, the 10 year old heroine and her cast of poltergeist friends. I was super excited to read the 3rd and final installment of the series and it took a while to procur a copy, as surprisingly it wasn't sold at any book store in my area. I finished it this morning and well, the book was satisfying in that it gave an ending to the series, but I found it to be.....choppy, lackluster, and confuseing. I felt almost that Anderson rushed through on the final book and hastely put it together in an endeavor to satisfy pressures from her publisher..There were a couple of things left open ended and unexplained, which I found just frustrateing, especially at the end. The book is angsty, which I found appropriate because May Bird is no longer 10 but 13 and is experiancing typical teen drama except in the Ever After, however, I felt at times that it became so depressing and angsty that it kinda diminished the "hero" quality in May's personality and not in a good way, but toward the very end, it was redeemed a little. I suppose in conclusion I am just really disappointed in the lack of heart put into the book. I mean the final book is suppose to be the biggest, most complex, and best...May Bird: Warrior Princess just fell short of being a great ending and only came up as ok. Just Ok. However, I do recommend the series for any girl between 9 and 13. It is worth reading and the very first two books really are great.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - May Bird, Book 3
I bought this for my 9 y.o. daughter after she found it on here. She has the very first 2 books and just loved them. Of course those were paperback and not as much as this one. But, I love her dearly and am happy she loves to read so I bought it for her. It's a great read for pre-teen girls!!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - A Satisfying (Although Maybe Predictable) Conclusion
For anyone who has read the very first two May Bird books, Warrior Princess brings the tale full circle in an extremely delightful read. The initial pacing is a little bit rushed and choppy, but the tale itself coupled with the author's knack for perfectly describing the characters and situations in the Ever After is not disappointing. Now we just need Tim Burton to do the movie!
