Ewww! I had a real hard time trying to read this book. I've been told by a few people that Coulter is a superb writer and storyteller, but I seriously doubt this is the book that formed that opinion. The characters are extremely awkward and the flow of the story is choppy. It felt like the dialogue was an inside joke between the lovers. I didn't finish the book even though I just bought it. I very rarely do that, but I just didn't get it. From the very beginning it was like a romance novel from the Twilight Zone or somthing. I personally can't believe this book ever left her editor's desk.

I still have no idea what really happened in this book. For me, a book is either all or nothing. This was definitely a nothing.

This is not the very first time this book is in print! This is my second copy! I did however read the book this time because I had the time. The book is good up until the last two chapters.
I had hoped that Coulter would have had a verbal exchange between father and daughter (after so long an absence and missing her growing up years) and his "look-a-like" son-in-law. I would have liked to have seen an exchange with the Sherbrooks and the Isabella's family. The book/story is incomplete!

I agree with one of the reviewers that the very first 2/3rds of the book was pretty good. It had light romance and hints of paranormal - all the things that make it easy for me to complete a book. This is my 1st Coulter book from this series. I enjoyed Nicholas and Rosalind's story line but I would have like to have seen more Romance. I laughed a little the 1st time they shared a French kiss. I'm not sure I liked the fact that she kind of thought the French kiss was a little repulsive. I am glad she agreed to try kissing again.
The last half of the book left me with a lot of questions. For instance, what was really Grayson's roll in the "Pale"? Why did Richard have a change of heart? Why was Aubrey so strange? Who shot at Nicholas?
I am glad Rosalind found her identity and that Nicholas finally said he loved her. Overall not a bad read but the book ended like there should be a "Wizard's Daughter 2".

Everything about this book is rather absurd. I loved CC's early FBI books. The characters and tension and storylines drew me right in. This book is silly and boring. The way the characters speak to each other makes them appear foolish rather than witty. The plot is plodding and not all that interesting. The romance isn't very deep. There just isn't much good I can say about this book.
