I have been using this book mostly as a topic-by-topic reference. In most areas I have found it very useful in that many of these topics when addressed in other books do not apply to services organizations. The topic coverage in the book is very good. I'm ordering the e-book to make it easier to find specific information. The book does a good job of pointing to the reasons services businesses can be more complex to establish and run than other types of businesses. Good focus on people issues to be addressed. It seems highly unreasonable that it is called a "bible" -- it would have been better called a "reference" or "guidebook".

Sorry, but this is not the bible of PS. It is too superficial and very basic. There are other books on the subject tha can claim the bible title, i. e. The Business of Advising, or Maister's books.

If you operate or work at a professional services firm, this book is invaluable. After reading the review by Steve Powers in the Dallas Morning News, my interest peaked. The book touches every aspect of operating a midsize firm-from sales management and business development to writing proposals and recruiting. There is also a great CD-ROM that features diagrams, spreadsheets, checklists, and other useful resources. It is a very useful reference tool for beginners and pros alike!
