Product Description:
The USA Today bestselling author returns to the fascinating world she introduced in Tempting Danger, where a woman's very soul is in mortal danger.

An agent in the FBI's Magical Crimes Division, Lily Yu's job is to hunt down a charismatic cult leader bent on bringing an ancient evil into the world. And her only hope will be to trust Rule Turner, a werewolf prince with whom she has mated. And if Lily can't trust him, she'll be lost forever.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Keep it coming...
2nd in a series full of enough "real life" issues to almost truly believe. There's a strong cast of characters and the storyline keeps moving in the right direction.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - If you enjoy Patricia Briggs you will love Wilks
Great plot, unusual and memorable characters, a fun summer read, I purchased all four books in the series so far and I am already half way through the fourth one.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Five stars and two thumbs up!
I wish I didn't take my sweet time getting around to this book because I totally loved it. I read it in one day it was so good, I couldn't put it down. There were very few down points and hardly any long-winded self-analysis (which I hate). This book had mystery, a touch of romance, excitement, action, an interesting magical world, different dimensions and demons which I love to read about. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series.

Rated by buyers 2 out of 5 stars - Love it or Hate it: still a great world but nothing new.
I read Mortal Danger in a shorter time-span than TD, mostly because I'm used to the world Wilks has created, which is still very unique and interesting, about the only thing that is. And the blurb on the back of the book is kind of misleading and tells you nothing of what actually happens.

So. In book 2, Lily Yu is the center of conspiracy being hatched in another world, Dis, i.e., Hell. And it does segue smoothly enough from Book 1 to 2. Like, when she finally confronts Harlowe, in a short uninspiring 'fight' scene, she, or rather, a part of her, is sucked into Dis, along with Rule, in fur form, and a little daemon, Gan, who was supposed to possess her, but failed. And thus, the bigger machinations of the higher-ups in Dis, is halted, for now.

Got that? Well, that's all there is to it. The two Lilys try to figure out what the heck is going on and who and what is mucking realms and realities. Along the way, we're introduced to Cynna Weaver, a MCD Finder, who, well, Finds people, magical beings and stuff. As well as more of Cullen Seabourne. Besides being introduced for book 3, these two explain this world a bit more, and the inner and outer workings, and specifically, provide backup for the mental leg work of when Lilly in the real world decides to break into Hell and get her man back. And it also breaks up the static and staleness of the story itself. More or less.

Once again, this is much more character-driven and about plotting, which was disjointed and doesn't tie itself very neatly or very well from beginning to end. Lots of things happen, but not of it piqued my curiosity or made me think about the bigger picture, it was all laid out there for me. It's was a hodge-podge of this and that, throw in some stolid action elements, a few tender and freaking out moments, and poof, you got Mortal Danger.

The romance, while not in hot-and-heavy panting I'm used to reading in a typical 'romance' novel, Wilks' direction seems to be more about the emotional and psychological ties of that side of romance. Not instant wham-o 'I love you', sex, and more 'I love yous', but all the muddle and confusing side of it. And so, Lily's and Rule's dance seems a bit long, a bit old, but I'd say a more realistic approach to love. I'm not saying it works wonderfully, it doesn't always, but it's a nice change of pace. So I appreciate the rendering and unfolding of this unusual romance, but come on Wilks...give us some foreplay, or at least some sizzling passionate something or sparks!

Wilks has a very clear and distinct world, and she gives the reader specific ways of reading and interpreting this world and the characters. And, oh boy, her characters are still written with little room for growth, which makes them all flat, wooden, mechanical and unemotional. No spice, no curiosity, subdued passion...Part of it is Wilks' own writing style, and still makes me feel so indifferent to them, to the I-just-don't-care zone. And that's not a good thing, when I have to try really hard to like any of the characters. Frustrating and tedious doesn't even begin to describe Book 2. It's less snappy dialogue and more explanations, which doesn't always work and can drag on.

MD might make some you folks happy, but I wasn't nearly as satisfied. But I did finish the darn thing so I have to admit, Wilks has the promise of something, and that's the problem. A promise and...just more of the same going and going nowhere. In the end though, not enough all around. As a rehashing of book 1, with some new light surprises to drag you along to Book 3, I'm debating whether or not to bail and just look for something more intriguing.

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Great Series!
I think this was the weakest book of the series thus far but I did find it entertaining. It just seemed to characters were not as intelligent as they normally are.
