Though few can equal her skill with the sword, Caledonia MacNeely fights an unfamiliar shiver when she is offered in marriage to the infamous ''Lord Sin.'' Though Callie fears this mysterious, unreachable stranger -- less for the dark whispers that damn him than for the heat of his touch -- she is under the order of the English king. And with the fate of her troubled clan hanging in the balance, she has little recourse.
Banished as a child, ''Sin'' MacAllister learned to despise his Scottish heritage. Yet now, to unmask King Henry's foes, he must return to the hated Highlands -- wedded to a bewitching lass whose flaming blue hair matches the fire of her spirit. A cold, hard heart has always been the key to Sin's survival, but this beauty awakens in him a perilous need he's never known.

Born in sin is surely a wonderful book, one that fans of historical romance will surely appreciate. I really loved Sin, the main hero, as I like dark, reclusive and extremely handsome knights! Sin, had a very tortured childhood, held as a hostage by a cruel Earl and the Saracens after him. As a result, he became a trained assasin for King Henry and a man with a heart encased in ice, refusing to let anyone near him so that they can't hurt him. But he couldn't keep Caledonia MacNeely away, no matter how much he tried. The fact that King Henry forced them to wed and go to her home in Scotland, made it even more difficult for Sin to resist her. Callie sensed that behind Sin's cold exterior, a kind, sensitive man was hiding and set out to win his heart. Her clansmen though made it clear they wanted the hateful Englishman out of their land and made several attempts to get rid of Sin, until they found out that his father was a fellow scotsman after all. But Sin has a mission to accomplish for King Henry that will turn Callie against him, if he does what he's bidden.
Sin, as I said before, is my favorite kind of hero and I couldn't get enough of him. Unfortunately, Callie was so perfect, she started getting on my nerves. Beautiful beyond compare, strong, talented with the sword, sensitive, patient, clever... this list has no end. And, as another reviewer already noticed, the fact that she felt attracted to Sin as soon as they met, although she was informed of his reputation as an assasin and cruel man was not believable.
Nevertheless, I truly enjoyed this book and have read it twice. If the heroine had a flaw or two, or at least, a less than spectacular appearence to make her seem more real and closer to us mere mortals, it would be perfect.

The sacrificial love in this book takes my breath away! I enjoy Callie and Sin's story every time I read it. I'm reading it to my husband each night. Camraderie, bravery, love and passion make it a fun bedtime story for us both. It is one of my ten favorite novels!

I cried during this story and I don't cry easily. Sin's childhood and his life up to the point where he meets the heroine, sounded so awful, I don't know how anyone could have survived it. And when asked by Callie, the heroine, he was honest about it too. It adds to the bittersweetness of this love story. I loved the moment when Callie finally showed him how much he means to her and what she was willing to sacrifice for him, a man who was rejected by both parents, hated, and feared but who had always sacrificed himself to save someone less stronger than himself. This is, by far, my favorite out of the MacAllister series.

This book has everything a romance should have...lots of humor, tear-jerking moments, and passion. This is the best of the MacAllister series by far! Probably her best book period!

This book is one the best romance books I have ever read.
Sin is one of the most wonderful, strong, and yet sensitive tortured hero I have ever come across. Now this is romance right here, moving, meaningful, funny, and just all around perfect!
Caledonia is a strong woman, the kind that Sin needs. And it is a joy and a great pleasure to read and watch as these two are forced to get married by the king and then get to know each other. Slowly Sin's wounds are healed, as Caledonia brings back life and laughter into his life.
And when they at last consummated their marriage, after they had fallen in love, Caledonia asks Sin if it is always this wonderful, and he replies that he doesn't know, because he hasn't done it before,(how beautiful and refreshing).
Suffice to say, and I think you can tell by now that I absolutely loved this book! Highly recommended!
