Editor's Notes and Comments:

Product Description:

For millennia, the ex-god turned Dark-Hunter Sin has sought to regain his powers and take revenge on Artemis. But now he has bigger fish—or in this case, demons—to fry. The lethal gallu that were buried by his pantheon are stirring, and they are hungry for human flesh. Their goal: To destroy mankind. Sin is the only one who can stop them…if a certain woman doesn’t kill him first.

Enemies have always made strange bedfellows, but never more so than when the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Now a man who only knows betrayal must trust the one person most likely to hand him to the demons. Artemis may have stolen his godhood, but this one has stolen his heart. The only question is: Will she keep it…or feed it to those who want him dead?

User popularity level: out of 5 stars

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Not as much about Sin as it is about ASH!
If I remember correctly, Devil May Cry was not as popular with the reviewer's as some of Kenyon's earlier Dark Hunter novels.

Me? I liked it, because no matter what other people say, Kenyon's not only did it as one of the firsts, she did it best. Sure there are times we feel cheated on some of the stories because we all have ideas on how some of these characters tales should be told and it would seem Kenyon is so busy cranking out their stories she doesn't seem to take the time to tell their stories properly. But that still doesn't mean I can't wait to get my hand on the subsequent one as soon as it's released!

It's also been said Kenyon tends to make rules in her worlds then not follow them. That doesn't bug me too much, because, darn it, I like her worlds. (I really like the meshing of pantheons for some reason. In DMC we get a look at the Sumerian Pantheon which is cool because I happen to be intrigued by that area of mythology.)

For me, her DH books are like candy. I can read them fast and though the feeling of pleasure may night last long, the instant gratification is sweet and the memory of the pleasure lingers at the very least.

Devil May Cry is not really about Sin and Katra as one might be led to expect by the blurb. Yeah, their love story is in it, and I did enjoy the change of pace- Kat has very little baggage despite her genetics- but what makes the book better, is the insight we get into the most beloved secondary character in the Dark Hunter novels- ever!- our Acheron. He gets lots of air time in DMC- although Artemas has him hidden away in Olympus through much of it.

Still, I read DMC in one sitting, there is that!

Don't miss this one before you get to Acheron's book because some secrets are revealed that you'll want to know and ... supposedly ... after reading it, we've had a peek at Ash's happily ever after!!

Rated by buyers 4 out of 5 stars - Dark Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Great. Just as described - new. One of Sherrilynn Dark Hunter series. Lives up to her other books.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Couldn't Put It Down!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Another winner in the series! LOVED the characters and LOVED that someone else finally hates Artemis as much as Simi! LOVED SIN AND DANGER! Great twist with the characters (don't want to give anything away to those who haven't read it yet). Great story and kept me going until the end and still wanted more!!

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - "Even the devil may cry when he looks around hell and realizes he's there alone"
Eons ago, when the universe was ruled by more than one pantheon, Sin was one of the most powerful and revered Sumerian gods. However, power breeds jealousy and everyone knows how vicious those immortals could be. Befriended by the goddess Artemis, Sin had fallen prey for her charm, a mistake that would cause him dearly. Stripped of his powers, Sin found himself at the mercy of the Olympians unable to win the battle that wiped out his entire pantheon. If not for Acheron, he would never have survived. For years he has walked among us, having patiently waited for the day when he could seek his vengeance on Artemis, never anticipating the revelation that would greet him as he finally comes face to face with the goddess.

Fearing for her life, Artemis sends the one person she knows she can rely on. A former handmaiden of the goddess, Katra goes after Sin to try and thwart his plan to kill Artemis. But when she ends up being captured by Sin, she learns of the goddess' duplicity and is racked by guilt over her role in Sin's fate. To make matters worse, she also learns that the biggest threat to mankind is about to be unleashed. Knowing that Sin is the only one capable of defeating the Gallu and Dimme, Katra vows to make up for her errors by helping Sin in the upcoming battle.

We know what happens subsequent from here on. The author tells that they have fallen in love sacrificing every need for character development so she could pen some sex scenes. Frankly speaking, it wasn't so much the characters that held my interest, but the revelations that come after. The Gallu, Dimme and Charonte, demons galore! The truth about Katra and the powerful bloodline that she possesses was a welcome surprise. But paramount of all is learning more about Acheron's youth, his relationship with Artemis and the reason why he cannot destroy her. These were what I enjoyed most about this book.

DEVIL MAY CRY had every possibility of being on par with the earlier Dark-Hunter novels. However, the sarcasm between the hero and heroine bordered on being childish and the romance felt too contrived to be believable. Yes, it was good to see the devil meet his salvation and find that he no longer needs to exist on his own, but the romance wasn't to die for. Yet these gripes aside, there is hope for more as we come closer to reading about the ultimate Dark-Hunter: Acheron. I simply cannot wait!

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Best one in years
Yeah,OK. I understand these characters are supposed to be immortal and everybody is more or less the same age. Still, I was taken aback when the heroine discovered that the hero's wife had an affair with her grandfather. Guess that's the difference in knowing something and actually understanding it.

This was a favorite for me at least partially because Ash & Simi played prominent roles. Artemis, too; although I get weary of the gods and goddesses. I think we were getting pumped with background to prepare us for the subsequent book,"Acheron". Here's hoping it lives up to all the preliminary hype. Whether it does or not, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and getting to know Ash's other daughter.
