Editor's Notes and Comments:

Brief Book Summary:
Arguing that mature masculinity is not abusive or domineering, but generative, creative, and empowering of the self and others, Moore and Gillette provide a Jungian introduction to the psychological foundations of a mature, authentic, and revitalized masculinity.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - great book
This is an excellent primer for understanding the male psyche. The authors piggyback on Carl Jung's work, and explain male archetypes and their shadow sides, using a lot of cultural references people can readily identify with.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Awesome book
Thanks Robert Moore for writing it. This is for a mature man that has the courage to look at himself and life.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Great archetypal analysis
the book has been rounda good while now, but it looks at Jungian archetypes but extends them out as four basic humaqn archetypes of the King, Warrior Magician and Lover. We are introduced to a magical world that allows an in dpeth view of human psychology with very useable tools for understanding ourselves.

Rated by buyers 3 out of 5 stars - Ideas on what it is to be a man
I purchased this book as I struggled with my manhood, after having read No More Mr. Nice Guy. I found the examples of the King (organizer), Warrior (aggressiveness), Magician (knowledge), and Lover (feeling) quite insightful. I understood I was lacking in Warrior part and the Lover part. I had a hard time though understanding the Lover part and how to improve. It was hard to take the new age parts in that section and apply it to my life.

This book is more informative, and not as much self help. It is nice to read, but if you are struggling with masculinity issues, I'd recommend No More Mr. Nice Guy first, and then Way of the Superior Man.

Rated by buyers 5 out of 5 stars - Also a must read for Men.
Two key books all men should read (that are not part of their faith), this book and Iron John by Robert Bly. It give positive models of being a man that is compassionate and effective in the world. Thanks Robert Moore for writing it. This is for a mature man that has the courage to look at himself and life.
