Product Description:
For summers Miranda Albright has watched—aghast, yet shamefully titillated—as her wicked neighbor Ethan Hamon, the notorious Earl of Rothschild, 'entertained' a succession of lovers on the grounds of his estate. Now that her father has passed on, leaving behind a mountain of debt, Miranda must do the unthinkable. For Ethan has promised to sponsor her younger sisters, financially and socially, at a scandalously dear price: Miranda must offer herself to him completely for three full months, with no remorse and no restraints.
Ninety days and nights of unbridled sensuality await her in the arms of a rogue who views her submission as no more than a grand erotic game. But neither Miranda nor Ethan realize that fire blazes behind her innocent blush. And once her passion is unleashed by his lips and his touch, it is the student who will school the teacher in the ways of forbidden pleasure . . . and love.

I usually prefer historical fiction to romance novels, but this book hit the sweet spot between the two genres for me. Steamy love scenes that weren't degrading or disturbing, along with a decent plot, believable characters, and an uplifting (though predictable) fairy-tale happy ending. Best part was that the author thankfully did NOT use those silly "quivering member" type of phrases that ruin traditional romance novels for me. And as a fan of Austen's classic P&P, this book was doubly satisfying...it wasn't too hard to imagine it as getting a glimpse of Darcy and Lizzie in the bedroom (though hero in this book is definitely far more of a rake). I read the entire book in one sitting on rainy night with glass of wine by the fire - perfect! I'm ordering her subsequent book right now.

Miranda Albright is at very first shocked then intrigued when she see her neighbor Lord Ethan Hamon the Earl of Rothschild with his mistress engaged in a very steamy embrace by his pond. She instantly becomes attracted to the very handsome man. Fast forward three years and Miranda is meeting him under some dire circumstances. Her father has died leaving a huge debt of bills, her mother is frivolously spending the last of their money, and her three younger sisters cannot even afford a season. Miranda goes to Ethan asking him to sponsor her sisters promising him she will pay him back the money after her sisters marry wealthy men.
Ethan says no but he will sponsor her sisters if Miranda will become his paramour for the subsequent three months instead. Miranda feels she has no choice and truthfully longs to have a passionate romance with the pleasure seeking Earl, so she agrees to a summer romance. Every Saturday she meets him and they have steamy bedroom scenes but more than that they have conversation and laughter. Soon Ethan is finding himself more and more entranced by the inexperienced Miranda.
Falling in love is what Miranda fears the most with the Earl but she just cannot help herself and the subsequent thing she knows she is head over heals for this man. But Ethan is solidly against marrying, and though he finds Miranda fascinating now, he worries that his obsession will soon fade. His parents had a disastrous relationship due to his father's infidelities and his mother's alcoholism; he certainly does not want that to happen to him.
This novel is incredibly sweet, yes it has some torrid love scenes but more than that is has a very sympathetic hero and a woman who shows loyalty to her family in the face of hardship. The only drawback was that I wish there had a little more background information about Miranda, I knew a lot about her family but wanted to know more about her, especially her relationship with her father and her unsuccessful seasons. This book features much of the hero's point of view and the author did a fine job writing about his inner turmoil and past heartache. Well done.

I trudged through EVERYTHING FORBIDDEN - it's not that good, but no wallbanger either. It's an erotic romance, so it should come as no surprise that the book is really just a series of sex scenes tied together with a thin plot and a mildly convincing 19th century setting.
The biggest problem for me is how one-dimensional the characters are. Miranda and Ethan are sensual people, and they like having sex with one another. That's great, but it's not enough to create the cocktail of intense, conflicting emotions that makes an erotic romance really sizzle.
We see Miranda outside the bedroom once and a while, and that really helps - she shoulders the responsibility of caring for her family, she's conflicted about keeping her activities secret from her closest sister, she worries about the consequences her fall from grace will have in the future. So when she visits Ethan, there's some substance to her fears and desires.
But Ethan doesn't seem to have any interests outside the bedroom, no hobbies or work of any kind, and his rare social encounters reinforce the idea that Ethan Hamon, Earl of Rothschild, is interested in one thing, and one thing only: sex. He likes to be in control, and Miranda threatens his composure, but that's about it where character development is concerned.
This is fine until until the author asks us to believe that Miranda is falling in love with Ethan, and that Ethan is falling in love with Miranda. How do you fall in love with Ethan? He's just a willing body, a glorified blow-up doll. And what does this love consist of? Their relationship is exclusively sexual.
It felt false to me, and not very hot either.

Very well written! The characters are all so well drawn the reader should have no trouble picturing them and the action taking place. Ethan is hot hot hot! Instead of hitting the reader over the head with the very first reacation of Ethan and Miranda to each other, it is developed slowly, primarily by having Miranda discover her sensual natue through observing Ethan's outdoor trysts for years prior to their very first encounter. This is as much plot driven as love story driven. Ethan's evolutio is well done.
I bought the second book as soon as it was available, and hope there will another book that brings the youngest sister into the series while also letting us see what has happened to the two elder sisters.
