My education in high school contained meager earth science background. I decided to find a way for further understanding, and this was to get a text. However, this purchase was not for a class. I obtained this book to "get me on my feet" before pursuing earth-science minors in college, namely, meteorology and geology. It will also give me basic background in astronomy and oceanography. The text is clear and very-self explanatory, and I recommend this to any young person or adult that wants to explore our great universe.
Remember, as a generally high-school textbook, you can continue studies otherwise, whether through encyclopedias (especially Wikipedia), or other popular publications.
